A New Year and A New Path

I love a fresh start. It energizes me when everything is clean and new, like a blank slate waiting to be written upon. It’s an opportunity to start anew and go in a different direction if you are so inclined and as God so leads. 

This new year has me thinking about the direction of America and iVoterGuide’s role in the story of America. What direction will we take? Will America continue on the path we have been on, or will we go in a new direction? Maybe even the path less traveled? The narrow road?

I want to go where God wants me to go. I want the same thing for iVoterGuide.

Psalm 15 asks “Lord, who may dwell in your sacred tent? Who may live on your holy mountain?” and then answers, “The one whose walk is blameless, who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from their heart; …” and ends with “Whoever does these things will never be shaken.” I want to stand on solid ground and be unshaken. How about you?

In my lifetime, our culture has shifted from believing in absolute truths, to a society where all truth is relative and to say otherwise is to be judgmental and old-fashioned. We are once again living in a time where ‘everyone did what was right in their own eyes’ or like Paul described in Romans 1 “… men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth…. exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator.” (Romans 1:18, 25) 

With this new year, let’s choose a path that is based on truth, because we know the one who is “the way, the truth and the life” (John 14:6)! Let’s stand firm, with the belt of truth buckled around our waists (Ephesians 6:14). Let’s choose to be directed by the Holy Spirit, the “Spirit of truth” (John 16:13) in all we do.

Truth is so important that we have chosen “Objective Truth” as an iVoterGuide core value. We seek to glorify God by applying the unchanging, absolute truth and authority of His Word to all spheres of life, including family, church, enterprise, and civil government.

As truth becomes harder for all of us to find, iVoterGuide pledges to do our best to discern the truth about those candidates seeking authority over you through elected office. Through iVoterGuide’s research:

• You will not need to base your voting decisions on potentially false information propagated by campaigns or the media, social media sound bites or the density of yard signs.
  
• You will not need to worry about Artificial Intelligence-generated misinformation about candidates, because iVoterGuide will verify what is truthful and give you the original sources to read for yourself. We do the heavy lifting to give you confidence that you are voting wisely.
  

I pray that America will turn from its current trajectory and align with God’s plans, but I also trust that He is on the throne and is orchestrating events for His purposes. I trust Him and want to be found a good steward of all the time, talents, and treasures he has entrusted me with. That includes being a good steward of my vote.
