OTHER INFORMATION
Greg Griffin posted to Facebook, "One of the greatest honors of my life is to be on the historic 2024 ballot as the Democratic nominee for Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court with Vice President Kamala Harris. History has already been made by both of us with our being on the ballot. I believe at least one of us will win!!!! If we both win that will be the eighth wonder of the world."
Greg Griffin posted to Facebook with attached image, "I am not saying a WORD!!!!! Who will replace President Biden if he decides not to run?"
Greg Griffin posted to Facebook, "I continue my journey without many of my friends who have passed into glory. I pause and reflect on the legendary Ella B. Bell. I have yet to meet a more authentic political leader than Ella B. Bell. I admired her even when we were political opponents. I am grateful to this day that God allowed our paths to cross. She paved the way for the first African American Mayor in Montgomery. She helped our community to be able to visualize that it was possible. She was a wonderful member of the State Board of Education. She inspires me still today! Montgomery Mayor Ella B. Bell. (That has a good ring!)"
Excerpts from Lyman, Brian. “Judge Greg Griffin Won’t Step Away from Alabama Democratic Party Lawsuit.” Montgomery Advertiser, 7 Aug. 2024.
- "Montgomery Circuit Court Judge Greg Griffin on Thursday ruled that he would not recuse himself from an ongoing lawsuit over the governance and direction of the Alabama Democratic Party."
- "[The plaintiff] sued to stop a Nov. 2 meeting of the State Democratic Executive Committee (SDEC) on Oct. 30, arguing that it was not properly called and could create a split in the party. Griffin filed a temporary restraining order at 5:00:02 P.M. on Friday, Nov. 1 that blocked the meeting from taking place. The Alabama Supreme Court stayed Griffin’s decision two hours later."
- "Griffin's decision came ahead of a planned Saturday meeting organized by Worley and Reed, with the stated purpose of electing new leaders for the party and members to the State Democratic Executive Committee (SDEC)."
- "The Nov. 2 SDEC meeting deposed Worley as chair and Randy Kelley as vice-chair and elected members of the SDEC representing Hispanic, Asians, Native Americans, LGBTQ individuals, and young people. [The Plaintiff's] faction do not recognize it."

- "Montgomery County Circuit Judge Greg Griffin said today he would wait on the Alabama Supreme Court rather than decide whether to dismiss a lawsuit filed by backers of Nancy Worley in the long-running dispute over control of the Democratic Party."
- "'My decision today is it’s already before the Alabama Supreme Court, and I’m going to let them rule,' Griffin said."
Excerpts from Rocha, Alander. “Montgomery Judge Blocks Alabama Birth Center Regulations from Taking Effect.” Montgomery Advertiser, 30 Sept. 2023, 10:11 a.m.
- "Montgomery Circuit Court Judge Greg Griffin Saturday blocked the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) from enforcing hospital licensing rules on birth centers that at least two centers said had prevented them from operating."
- "In a statement ... Whitney White, an attorney with the ACLU Reproductive Freedom Project, which represented birth centers in the case, said they were pleased with the ruling. 'We are pleased that the court put an end to the Alabama Department of Public Health’s unlawful and dangerous de facto ban on birth centers, allowing the dedicated providers in this case to offer pregnant Alabamians the essential health care they need in birth centers throughout the state,' she wrote in a statement."
- "ADPH approved the new rules earlier this year. The regulations require birth centers – facilities that provide an in-between option for individuals who do not feel comfortable with a home birth but prefer an out-of-hospital birth – to submit to oversight by a physician or medical director. It would also require them to be within 30 minutes of a hospital with OB-GYN services, and to apply for hospital licenses. Birth centers do not meet the criteria of hospitals under law."
