QUESTIONNAIRE
RIGHT TO LIFE
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
I believe the local state, county or municipality should determine its own restrictions to abortion, not the federal government.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments (including Title X grants).
Strongly Agree
This issue should be left up to local governments. No federal money should go to any social programs.
I support 'aid in dying' laws which legalize assisted suicide and euthanasia.
Strongly Agree
There should be no laws restricting an individual's right to take his/her own life, as long as the method does not endanger others.
RELIGIOUS LIBERTY
Individuals and businesses should be required to provide services even if it would violate their moral and/or religious beliefs.
Strongly Disagree
Private individuals and businesses should not be required to say or do anything, unless they are endangering the safety of another citizen.
Under what circumstances can government close churches?
Never. The constitution was very specific about this, and the only exception would be if a church or its members presented a legitimate threat to the safety of other citizens.
NATIONAL SECURITY
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of Islamic terrorism?
The biggest threat of Islamic terrorism is the one America has brought on itself through reliance on foreign oil and endless nation building efforts in regions incompatible with western democracy. The US should pull out of the middle east completely and dedicate the bulk of its massive defense budget to actual national defense instead of wars of deterrence.
I support the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement to pressure Israel to withdraw from occupied territories, remove the separation barrier in the West Bank, allow full equality for Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel, and promote the rights of Palestinian refugees.
Strongly Disagree
The Arab-Israeli conflict is none of our business. We should welcome refugee families from areas torn apart by foolish 20th Century western nation building practices, but we should not interfere economically or militarily anywhere that does not present an actual threat to us. Likewise, we should stop supporting Israel economically and militarily, which may seem like BDS, but is rather moving the needle back to zero.
HEALTHCARE
What most closely matches your view on healthcare: A) Healthcare for all should be guaranteed and funded by the government with no private healthcare option. (includes "universal healthcare," "medicare for all," etc.) B) Healthcare insurance funded by the government should be available for all who want it, along with private healthcare options. C) Medicaid and Medicare should remain available, but no other taxpayer-funded programs are necessary. D)Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded.
Tax-payer funded health care should be abolished in all forms, and Medicaid and Medicare should be de-funded. Sell and fully privatize all hospitals, clinics and other medical care facilities. As states remove restrictions on low-cost and free medical care, dismantle and repeal Medicare and Medicaid; repeal the Medicare tax. Defund and repeal Obamacare – and replace it with nothing. Extract government from the health care industry, ending the damage it does. Remove all prohibitions on advertising or disclosing the price of medical care service. Remove prohibitions on free clinics and other forms of charitable health care. End all medical insurance mandates requiring coverage of particular medical services or of preexisting conditions (the latter of which makes a mockery of “insurance”). Eliminate “risk pools” and other forms of bailing out the medical insurance industry.
Under what circumstances (if any) should a government, school, or employer be allowed to require vaccinations?
Government should never be allowed to mandate vaccinations, because their ability to enforce mandates with penalties, incarceration or violence would lend itself to abuse. Private schools and employers should be allowed to require their customers and employees to meet certain expectations related to their patronage and employment, but not under duress from the government (which is what happened in 2021).
ECONOMY
What changes, if any, should be made to the tax code?
End federal income taxes (individual and corporate) and inheritance tax. Repeal FICA and privatize Social Security. Disband the IRS.
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
All of it. Start from scratch. Eliminate every federal department, commission, or administration. Repeal every federal tax, tariff, or fee. Cut on/off-budget spending down to the bone, literally keeping what's required to meet the federal government's constitutional duties. Rebuild a minarchy from there.
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Strongly Disagree
No taxpayer-funded anything should be guaranteed for any length of time.
IMMIGRATION
The U.S. should do more to physically secure the southern border.
Neutral
The US should allow private property owners along the border to patrol and protect their own property as they see fit. The US government should also not offer any form of reward or sanctuary to people illegally crossing the border. Undocumented immigrants should only be offered sanctuary by private citizens , organizations, or cities.
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
Anyone should be allowed to immigrate to the US, provided they follow the proper channels, complete the necessary documentation and preparation, and do not present a net negative addition to the citizenry.
EDUCATION
I support school choice, including voucher programs, tax credits, charter schools, private schools, and home schools.
Strongly Agree
Americans should be able to choose where their education dollars are spent, and benefit directly from them. Furthermore, eliminate the Department of Education (DOE) and end central government planning of education. Return control of schools to local teachers, parents and communities. Repeal all restrictions on home schooling. Repeal truancy laws. Cancel planning, design and construction of unneeded school buildings. Reduce taxes of any household with no children in public school.
CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY
Police officers should be personally immune from prosecution for conduct consistent with departmental policy (qualified immunity) while on duty.
Strongly Disagree
End qualified immunity. Likewise, stop awarding massive lawsuit victories against police departments for the actions of its individuals.
I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.
Agree
Police are called to do things that are a complete waste of their time, such as ushering homeless people off restaurant patios and responding to noise complaints. These are supposed to be highly trained peacekeepers patrolling our streets and keeping actual criminals at bay. Local community organizations (comprised of local stakeholders) should be empowered to respond to local disturbances, and even local threats, if members of the organization are trained well enough in use of force.
2ND AMENDMENT
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
The 2nd Amendment is utterly clear about the fact that our right to "keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." Moreover, abolish the ATF.
Victims of gun violence should be able to sue firearms dealers and manufacturers.
Agree
I don't think the government should decide who can and cannot be sued, so this is really about tort reform, i.e. we should reform laws in this country to limit awards to plaintiffs suing passive 3rd parties for the actions of a 1st person.
ABOUT YOU
What do you think is the general purpose of government?
It depends on which level of government you're describing. The sole purpose of the federal government is to defend the republic of states from foreign threats. The purpose of state governments is more sophisticated, and deals more with a citizens daily life (things like infrastructure, public services, criminal justice, etc.). The purpose of local government should take on more responsibility from the state governments. Controversial issues like abortion and welfare would be more applicable to a local area, thereby protecting the rights of urban people vs rural. I think this is particularly important for states like Alabama, where a rural majority often creates laws that urban areas don't like.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and religious liberty, which of the following best describes you overall?
Lean Conservative
Please provide publicly available information, including interviews and media reports, validating your answer to the previous question (other than your website).
Did not answer
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized in either civil or criminal court for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No
What else would you like voters to know about you, including your legislative priorities?
I am not actively campaigning. I am not raising any money, and I am not speaking at any events or pursuing any endorsements. I am running to assist the Libertarian Party with their statewide ballot access initiative, which is an effort to get and keep the LP on the Alabama ballot. Alabama ballot access laws are some of the worst in the country, requiring tens of thousands of signatures to get a 3rd party on the ballot, an effort that costs the party time and money that could be used educating voters on the issues.
VALUES
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
Disagree
The value of liberty can be enjoyed by all, even (if not especially) the non-religious. In fact, most of our funding fathers consisted of principled men who retained Christian loyalties and practice, but were influenced by Deism (a belief in the existence of God solely based on rational thought without any reliance on revealed religions or religious authority). They were not devout, practicing Christians as often portrayed in modern art and popular culture.
I support adding gender identity as a specially protected class in non-discrimination laws.
Strongly Disagree
Everyone is entitled to their own identity, but involving the government will only generate more confusion, anger, and resistance.
Marriage is a God-ordained, sacred and legal union of one man and one woman. No government has the authority to alter this definition
Strongly Disagree
Government should not be involved in marriage. It is a spiritual bond between two people, not a piece of paper at the county courthouse. Repeal laws that prohibit marriage between consenting adults, irrespective of sexual orientation, including DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act).
I agree with Critical Race Theory (CRT) which asserts that the institutions in the United States are fundamentally racist.
Disagree
While I agree that America has a complicated history with race and racism that will never run its course, CRT is just popular historic revisionism. It's something that leaked out of academia during a time of social unrest when such an outlandish idea would be accepted by lay people. Its anecdotal foundation does not hold up against the scientific method and the Catch-22 logic of "If you don't think you're racist, then you're racist" is a dangerous thought exercise for students.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
Spiritually, I'm a non-practicing Anglican. I believe in an infinite God, and I believe glimpses of its perfection can be found in the natural world around us. My personal values are a blend of personal sovereignty and productive citizenry. I believe in local control, because it is the *only* form of government that makes any sense as a strategic coordinative body. I believe cities can sustain honest minarchies, because they are so much easier to influence and disband if they abuse their power.
ELECTIONS AND VOTING
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
Strongly Agree
We all have a SSN. Biometric data and blockchain are proven technologies. We have so many tools at our disposal to ensure fair and honest elections, why are we still filling out scantrons at our local fire station like it's 8th grade ACT prep? What's to stop people from providing a fake ID to vote? Are voting booth volunteers trained to identify fake IDs?
What laws would you propose to change present voting practices?
How is it the IRS knows exactly who I am and how much I owe them, but the Federal Election Commission will qualify dead voters? No more mail-in voting. In fact, sell the US postal service and end its monopoly privileges. The USPS is one of the worst run organizations in the country. Use a rigorous ID verification system to create a voting account for every American citizen able to vote. Send them a PIN each election day when the polls open. They log into their existing account and vote. Only one vote per account. It's that easy, and boom - you have all their demographic, income, etc data already to understand who is voting for who and why.
EQUALITY
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Racism exists, but it is absolutely not a domestic security threat. In fact, the biggest threat to our domestic security are the dystopian attacks by agencies like the FBI, ATF, etc. and organizations like the SPLC, ADL, etc. on conservative interest groups, while progressive interest groups are allowed to publicly threaten elected officials, assault private citizens, destroy private and public property, and burn the American flag in a very candid statement of anti-establishmentarianism.
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Disagree
If we punished all modern people for the crimes of their ancestors, we would live in a perpetual state of masochism.
ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT
Which comes closest to your view? A) Stricter environmental laws and regulations cost too many jobs and hurt the economy. B) Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost.
Stricter environmental laws and regulations are worth the cost. This is the only area where I believe the coercive power of government can actually defend liberty from corporations who will always choose profit at the expense of pollution. We have to protect our fresh water and top soil. Corporations might actually be willing to upgrade their systems to meet stricter environmental regulations if they weren't paying so many other taxes.
I support the use of hydraulic fracking to extract oil and natural gas resources.
Agree
As reserves dwindle and energy policies change, a new method or technology will take its place. For now, it is helping keep American energy costs down during a time when the federal government is somehow driving them up.
