In January of 2023, Walz signed legislation as MN governor that includes no limitations on when a woman may get an abortion. Source

Walz signed an enacted SF2995 which widened abortion access, weakened protections of unborn children, and increased abortion funding.

Before he was the VP pick, Walz toured a Planned Parenthood with VP Harris in March of 2024. Source

In January of 2024, Walz joined other Dem governors in signing an amicus brief Food and Drug Administration, et al., v. Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine, in a press release from the governor's office read: "Mifepristone is a safe, highly effective, and widely used medication prescribed for medication abortions and miscarriage management – used in well over half of all abortions." Walz would likely disagree with this. In 2017, while a member of congress, Walz voted no on H. J. Res. 43, which enabled states to defund Planned Parenthood. In 2021, as governor, Walz’s administration gave $100K in COVID-19 funds to a group that provides ‘abortion doulas.’ Source

Mixed record on this.

Walz signed a law "that would have prevented any school that requires students to submit a statement of faith from participating in a program that allows high school students to earn college credits. A month later, the state agreed it would not enforce the law while the litigation is ongoing but has continued to defend the law in court.”

Walz "signed a bill in 2023 that amended the Minnesota Human Rights Act to include a ban on discriminating against a person’s “gender identity.” But, about a year later, Walz signed another amended version, which added religious exemptions to the law.

When Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022, Walz said: “We stand ready to support the federal government in guiding our nation through this violent time, and I am committed to standing together with leaders at all levels of government, regardless of political party, to work towards peace. It’s time to unite, protect democracy, and work together to end this violence and hold Russia accountable.” Source

Though this does not necessarily serve as proof of a stance of policy towards China, Walz has a long relationship with China including teaching there, honeymooning there and running a company that organized trips to China.  Source

Walz in July of 2024: "We need a two-state solution … The atrocities of October 7 are painful and they're real, and Israel's right to defend itself is real. But, also, the situation in Gaza is intolerable. The humanitarian crisis must be brought to an end." Source

Walz in June of 2024: "The ability of Jewish people to self-determine themselves is foundational to everything... and the failure to recognize the state of Israel is taking away that self-determination. So it is antisemitic." Source

As a member of congress, Tim Walz voted for the final house version of Obamacare, which included the individual mandate.

Though the legislation has not passed in MN, Walz favors a public option for MN residents to buy-in to the state’s version of Medicaid. Walz in 2019: "This buy-in option will offer a high-quality, affordable plan to Minnesotans with more services, lower deductibles and lower copays than what is currently available within the individual market," and "When the market fails to offer enough choice for Minnesota families, Minnesota's public option will bridge that gap." Since Walz has implemented policy which allows illegal immigrants to access tuition-free college education, it is reasonable to assume he would likely disagree with this statement. 

Walz on X: "I support a $15 minimum wage. I voted for a $15 minimum wage in Congress, and would be proud to sign it into law if it came to my desk as Governor." (2018)

In May 2023, Walz signed the North Star Promise Scholarship into law, which covers tuition at MN public colleges and universities for students who meet family income restrictions notably, illegal immigrants qualify for the aid under certain conditions. Source Source

In April of 2023, Walz “signed a bill that allows Minnesota courts to take temporary emergency jurisdiction over child custody disputes if one parent takes a child into the state to obtain a sex-change operation or sex-change drugs. The bill prohibits Minnesota courts from cooperating with court orders from other states if the other parent is trying to prevent the child from obtaining the drugs or the operation.” Source

On X: "In 2023, Minnesota enacted a red flag law and expanded background checks. And in 2024, we raised the penalty for straw purchasing guns and banned deadly binary gun triggers." 

Not a felony, but in 1995 Walz was arrested in Nebraska for drunk driving he pleaded guilty to reckless driving, a misdemeanor, lost his license for 90 days, and paid a fine. Source

Walz: "I've proudly supported marriage equality since my very first run in 2006."

Walz "identified Pilgrim Lutheran Church in St. Paul as his parish during a 2020 briefing on the COVID-19 pandemic. Materials published by Pilgrim Lutheran Church instruct parishioners not to refer to God using male pronouns, push congregants to support reparation funds, encourage them to celebrate Ramadan and include a modified gender-neutral version of the Lord’s Prayer, among other liberal practices." Walz would likely agree with this statement. Voters can vote without photo ID, and his record as governor does not indicate a desire to change that. According to a 2021 article, Walz opposed a 2021 bill the MN state senate passed requiring photo ID to vote. Source

Walz said, “I think all of us know the Electoral College needs to go. We need, we need national popular vote..." (2024) source

Walz signed his first executive order, creating the "One Minnesota Council on Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity." Also, Walz's Department of Education changed the state social studies standards for schools requiring an “ethnic studies” component for K-12 students. Source Source

Walz on X: "It's clear – climate change is an urgent and an existential threat."

In February of 2023, Walz signed legislation establishing a Minnesota carbon-free electricity standard; his office’s press release mentioned that the energy, despite being carbon free, is still reliable. Source
