God's Mercy . . . and Unique Opportunities

The 2024 election year will go down in history as God’s mercy to our nation.  Did you find yourself breathing a sigh of relief that it’s finally over?   Were you thinking, “President Trump won decisively and now we can sit back and enjoy watching his administration get us back on track towards our founding principles.”

I have to admit that I did breathe the same sigh  . . . but not for long.  Yes, God’s grace was shown to us in this election; but God’s grace is meant to be received and acted upon.  To “rest on your laurels” means that you get lazy or complacent about what you could achieve because you’re too busy basking in the memories of former glories.  You may recall that I grew in my faith by studying Henry Blackaby’s “Experiencing God.” Through that study I learned that when you see God at work (like in this election) . . . you join him in that work!

Our Pledge of Allegiance reminds us that we are “one nation under God, indivisible…,” but the last four years has not reflected allegiance to that pledge.  Those four years have left us deeply divided - spiritually, politically, emotionally.  I, along with iVoterGuide staff, have sought the Lord on how we can be an instrument of healing and a unifying catalyst for our Country.

"When someone has been given much, much will be required in return; and when someone has been entrusted with much, even more will be required."  (Luke 12:48)

First and foremost, we are committing ourselves to prayer:  for healing and reconciliation between America’s citizens.

“The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.” (James 5:16)

Secondly, wherever we have or will encounter strife with our fellow Americans over political matters, whether this involves family, friends, co-workers, neighbors, we are committed to be peacemakers.

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.”  (Matthew 5:9)

Third, we are dedicated to truth.  Truth in the research we share, not opinions.  Truth spoken in love, not hate, arguments, or debates.

“Let your speech always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person.”  (Colossians 4:6)

Fourth, and most importantly, reconciliation.   We are “one nation under God, indivisible . . . ,” and we must not forget why we are here - the Great Commission.  Where there is division, we must seek to reconcile and bring unity (more on this in future emails).

“. . . God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, . . . and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ . . .”  (2 Corinthians 5:19b-20a)

God has given us these next two years, and we should be thankful.  But we also need to be vigilant to make the most of this unique, once-in-a-century opportunity.  Here at iVoterGuide, we make every effort to be alert and proactive on challenges that lay before us.

Elections already on the horizon for 2025 are:

  • Virginia and New Jersey will hold elections for Governor.
  • Elections for state supreme courts in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin can mean the difference between a conservative or activist court.
  • Expanded coverage of school board and, hopefully, municipal elections.

But as we watch President Trump rapidly nominate candidates to serve in his administration, many of those appointees currently serve as elected officials, and will leave a vacancy that must be filled.

We need to replace those individuals with other candidates who share our biblical values. That will take place through special elections, which are unique opportunities in themselves because the average turnout is frequently under 10%!  When those special elections are announced, iVoterGuide will do the research and let you know when it is time to make your voice heard!

iVoterGuide will be here for you in 2025, covering all those elections so that you will be armed with the information you need to make wise voting decisions.  I want to take this opportunity to sincerely invite you to join us this coming year to:

  • Pray earnestly for healing, reconciliation and unity among all Americans.
  • Choose to be a peacemaker with all whom God brings into your life in 2025.
  • Learn and speak truth as you encounter those who view life differently than you.
  • Remember that you are called to be an ambassador for Christ, and those you interact with may need to be reconciled to God through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Each month, be looking for further suggestions and tools on how we all can join together to influence the people in our nation for their good and God’s glory in 2025.
