What is the function of the local school board?

To be a representative of the community. The board should be ran by the people. That will be my main focus, to listen to the people that I represent.

Who should have the authority to set curriculum and determine resources used in those curricula?

In order for our students to go anywhere in the world and be successful, our school system must follow standards on the local, state and national levels. We are preparing global citizens to be college and career ready.

Please list in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): Mathematics, Information Technology, Science, Political Activism, Personal Finances, Gender Identity, Physical Fitness, American History, Critical Race Theory, Language Arts, Art & Music, Vocational Learning, Sexuality, Foreign Language, Social Emotional Learning

Political Activism we have to protect our public schools from corporate takeover. Public Schools should not be run by corporations but by the local government. The school turnaround plan has left empty buildings like Venetian Hills Elementary, teachers have lost their jobs and been forced to go through a re-hiring process. This practice has been allowed to run amok by the incumbent and must be stopped! Safety and nutrition. Students need a safe place to learn and they need the sustenance needed to focus and learn. Art & Music / Vocational Learning / Physical Fitness / Foreign Language / I.T. - All main reasons why students come to school. Once they are engaged in activities that foster creative development/career awareness, everything else falls into place. Field trips. Students need exposure in a group with their peers going to the zoo, eating at nice establishments, attending musicals / plays. Tolerance, World History, Personal finances, Mathematics, Science,Language

Every state should mandate K-12 standardized tests and use of teaching software which aligns with Common Core standards.

Schools should use Social Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum and resources to teach emotions, values, and relationships.

I support the teaching of the 1619 Project emphasizing slavery and racism as the foundation of American history.

Strongly Agree

When students are taught courses such as Comprehensive Sex Ed (CSE) or Social Emotional Learning (SEL), they must opt-in with written parental permission.

Parents are the ultimate authority in their child’s education and should be able to freely pursue whatever educational options they deem best for their child.

Strongly Disagree

No school official should be involved in the sexual transitioning of a student. All issues on this subject should be referred to the parents of the student.

Strongly Disagree

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality that is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Disagree

Teachers should not use alternative names and pronouns without parental permission.

Strongly Disagree

Therapy to help children turn from unwanted same-sex attraction or gender dysphoria should be banned.

Strongly Agree

I support allowing public high school students to participate in athletic competition based on the gender with which they identify instead of biological sex.

No healthcare diagnosis or treatment, whether mental, reproductive, or otherwise, should be given to a child without first receiving written consent from the parent.

Strongly Agree

Who is responsible for teaching sexual education to children, and what is the appropriate age when it should be taught?

Sexual education should be taught by the parent(s)/guardian(s) hopefully starting when the child starts potty training in order to keep them safe from sexual assault.

If you support the teaching of Sex Ed, please answer the following question: Sexual education should include these topics (list all that apply and add your own, if needed) -- Physical and emotional health outcomes; contraceptive methods; consent; abstinence; sexual orientation and gender identity; human anatomy/the reproductive system; abortion methods and side effects; stages of pregnancy and fetal development; sex acts and pleasures of sex

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a Christian because I was born into a Christian Family. My beliefs are rooted just as strongly as people born into other faiths. I teach this to my son, that no matter what faith we are, we can all coexist.

Why are you running for this office?

To stop the school turnaround plan and stabilize the school system.

A candidate's personal moral values should not be relevant when considering a candidacy for elective office.

What books have had the most profound impact on your view of life?

Miss Nelson is Missing!; James and the Giant Peach, It all happened on Mulberry Street, Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry, To Kill A Mocking Bird, Don't Touch My Hair, Hair Love, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Charlotte's Webb, Secret Life of Bees, Between the World and Me, a lot more...

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

First I am a parent. I was activated into this candidacy when this school turnaround plan left my son's classroom with a long term sub in 3rd grade. When I learned that the school board was behind this treachery, I realized that I needed to run for office to make things better! I have over 20+ years as an educator and advocate.

Considering all issues (social, economic, national security, etc.), which of these best describes you?

Please defend your answer to the previous question by referencing your publicly available track record.

Everyone should have a place at the table in the world. EVERYBODY!

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
