QUESTIONNAIRE

RIGHT TO LIFE

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Agree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

I am staunchly pro-life, and believe an abortion should only be allowed if the mother’s life is in danger. As a pro-life Governor, I will only put my name on bills that value human life. I am pro-life because of my own life experience. After experiencing multiple miscarriages, I have become convinced of the value of every life, no matter which stage of development it is in. Right now in California, approximately 1/3 of pregnancies every year are ended by abortion. I believe in a California where every child is free to grow up to pursue their dreams, and every woman has the support she needs to navigate pregnancy. I believe in a California where every teen mom is free to finish high school remotely, and is supported through higher ed as well. I believe in a thriving California economy that provides women (and families) with economic security and flexible work so that abortion doesn't feel like the only option.

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

No Answer

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.

Yes

Under what circumstances can government close churches?

The government should avoid closing churches whenever possible. In order to save lives, such as in the example of a church in the path of a wildfire, the government can temporarily close churches - as long as such closures are applied fairly and evenly across all religious and non-religious facilities.

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

Separation of church and state prohibits the government from being involved in the religious sphere; it does not prohibit religion (or the religious) from having a say in government. The government should have no preference or make any endorsement of a particular religion.

NATIONAL SECURITY

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Strongly Agree

HEALTHCARE

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.

Strongly Disagree

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

Healthcare coverage is important for all Californians, but I do not support mandated coverage. A free market provides the most efficient and affordable healthcare coverage solution. I would advocate for insurance to be available across state lines, increasing competition in the marketplace. In addition, repealing mandates and replacing them with fixed grants to the states will incentivize each state to spend their set amount of money in a way that works best for its population. An analysis by the Center for Health and Economy found that this would reduce premiums for individual coverage by up to 32% while increasing the number of insured Americans.

ECONOMY

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Strongly Disagree

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Disagree

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

California is on shaky fiscal ground. My first step to reduce spending and balance the budget will be to stop waste caused by fraud, like the up to $31B lost by the EDD in 2021. I will order a customer service audit of every department to see which state agencies are providing effective services. I will cut or reduce spending to agencies that are not delivering valuable services. Next, I will reduce spending on school administrators and reallocate it to teachers and students for better outcomes.

IMMIGRATION

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Agree

State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.

No Answer

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

I will secure our southern border. During a border visit in June, I discovered that the California border currently faces a severe shortage of border patrol staff. I will work actively with the federal government to fill vacancies. In addition, California has partially completed its wall; I will use the budget surplus to complete this structure. In addition, I will work with the federal government to advance immigration reform through employer sponsorship. We need labor to power our state and economy, especially now, when demand outweighs supply. Immigrants who have led productive lives in America for many years must have a simple path to citizenship. At the same time, I will ensure that laws treat both immigrants and natural born residents fairly. Our family has chosen dual-language (Hispanic and English) education for our children because we honor Hispanic contributions to California. Finally, I will end California’s status as a sanctuary state. We are a nation of laws.

CRIMINAL JUSTICE & PUBLIC SAFETY

I support redirecting funds from police departments to mental health and community programs.

Strongly Disagree

2ND AMENDMENT

Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?

No Answer

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

I will not sign new legislation that further restricts Californians’ access to guns. The process for new handguns to be registered for sale must be carried out efficiently. California has made the conditions for inclusion on the Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale unreasonable, leading to an unconstitutional “de facto” ban on new handguns. However, background checks, permits, and training are essential to ensure criminals and those with mental health issues aren’t empowered to hurt others.

OTHER IMPORTANT ISSUES

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?

1. I will restore economic growth to free California to live, work, and breathe. I will stop prison releases and closures to create safe cities, support small businesses by ending extended unemployment benefits, and renew water deliveries to farmers. 2. I will free California by reducing homelessness. My “Spend Smarter” plan will use data to base local funding on progress, increase mental health and substance abuse support, and ensure the homeless are legally bound to use available housing options. 3. I will free California to breathe by reducing wildfire risk. I will target 1M acres of managed forest per year through thinning, biomass permits, and controlled burns. Productive forest management is renewable, sustainable, and essential.

Strongly Disagree

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I’m a businesswoman who runs data-driven organizations where outcomes matter. I grew startups into global businesses. As a consultant I improved government services, and I did it all while raising a family. As an entrepreneur, I’ll follow the data to commonsense solutions. As a working Californian, I won’t ask you to do anything that I’m not willing to do. And as a mom, I believe that California’s kids deserve better: they deserve a free and prosperous California. I’m not going to Sacramento to make friends; I’ll hold politicians accountable and fight for your freedom to live, work, and breathe again.
