What is the function of the local school board?
To act as a team and work together to ensure that all students of the district have the resources and opportunity to learn.
Who should have the authority to set curriculum and determine resources used in those curricula?
In the great State of Texas, our State Board of Education establishes the curriculum through TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills). Members of the Board are elected from single-member districts representing the 15 educational districts across Texas. This is democracy at work and I agree with this approach because it establishes a fair playing field across the State and limits the influence of local politics on public education. The role of public school in society is to help students learn how to think and not what to think. As they say, reading, writing, and arithmetic, the fundamentals of thinking. If a student can meet TEKS, they are equipped with the tools to make educated decisions as adults.
Please rate in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): Mathematics, Information Technology, Science, Political Activism, Personal Finances, Gender Identity, Physical Fitness, American History, Critical Race Theory, Language Arts, Art & Music, Vocational Learning, Sexuality, Foreign Language, Social Emotional Learning

Who is responsible for teaching sexual education to children, and what is the appropriate age when it should be taught?
Parents are responsible for teaching the morality of sexual education to children and should do so at the age they believe is appropriate. Public education does play a role in sexual education and should be teaching the science behind sexuality. This should start in middle school, somewhere around 7th grade (Student age 12).
If you support the teaching of Sex Ed, please answer the following question: Sexual education should include these topics (list all that apply and add your own, if needed) -- Physical and emotional health outcomes; contraceptive methods; consent; abstinence; sexual orientation and gender identity; human anatomy/the reproductive system; abortion methods and side effects; stages of pregnancy and fetal development; sex acts and pleasures of sex

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I believe a loving God created us to do great things for each other. I value hard work, dignity, respect, honesty, love, and compassion.
Why are you running for this office?
We are at a critical time in our district's storied history. A large bond has been approved for the election with a promise of no tax increase to the citizens. I am a firm believer in public bonds as they are a win/win. The district, kids and teachers get great facilities, local businesses get work, and everybody generally wins. this is as long as someone is willing to pay for the bond. Historically, it has to be the citizens through increased taxation. I am uniquely able to help the district navigate this situation and therefore, want to volunteer.
A candidate's personal moral values should not be relevant when considering a candidacy for elective office.
Strongly Disagree
Which of the 11 objectives specified in the Texas Education Code is your highest priority?

I operate a successful business based off of the principles of fairness, empowerment, teamwork, and achieving goals. I am a building engineer (Mechanical License) with 20 plus years experience with large bond programs in K-12 across the State. I have participated on volunteer boards and committees in my industry and also served as an officer for back-to-back years in one of the largest in Texas in my industry.
