What is the function of the local school board?
They provide oversight that the district is following the policy set by the Board. They oversee the Superintendent. They hire and fire the superintendent They vote on whether to put a Bond up for election and determine the tax rate for those. They provide spending approvals. They should be transparent to parents. They should provide financial transparency and they should be accountable to issues that arise regarding the District, Superintendent, children snd themselves.
Who should have the authority to set curriculum and determine resources used in those curricula?
The Board of Trustees should work closely with parents, teachers, and their constituents. There should be work groups and advisory committees created to research and present recommendations.
Please rate in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): Mathematics, Information Technology, Science, Political Activism, Personal Finances, Gender Identity, Physical Fitness, American History, Critical Race Theory, Language Arts, Art & Music, Vocational Learning, Sexuality, Foreign Language, Social Emotional Learning
These guidelines should be in sync with college entrance requirements and there should be an alternative curriculum if college is not the desired path. I am not ranking these in any particular order because parents will make their own decisions for their children. And I’m not stating whether these are mandatory. My lists is simply subjects I feel should be supported and offered: mathmatics, information technology, science, personal finances, physical Fitness, American History, Language Arts, Art and Music, Vocational Learning, Foreign Language,
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Why are you running for this office?
I’m running because I chose Face-To-Face (F2F) Learning for my grandchildren and I didn’t get it. Instead the schools opened with a hybrid model which allows high school students on campus 2 days a week. I also thought that my middle schooler was going into school 5 days a week to get live teacher instruction but all she received was 2 days of teacher instruction. The other 3 days all 3 kids were on their own for remote learning. The number of days was increased in January to 4 days of teacher instruction. I protested, wrote emails, spoke at a Board meeting and talked to news reporters to No Avail. I was ignored. The failure rate for children is unacceptable. The mental and physical suffering for our children is unacceptable. The inferior curriculum is unacceptable. Absences are high. I would like to be the parent’s voice. I also feel teachers are over worked and we need to understand what changes need to be made. The goal must be what is best for our children
A candidate's personal moral values should not be relevant when considering a candidacy for elective office.

Which of the 11 objectives specified in the Texas Education Code is your highest priority?
Number 1 which says parents will be full partners in the education of their children.
What books have had the most profound impact on your view of life?

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
Being a mother of 2 children that went through Plano schools who went on to graduate from college and start their own families has given me the knowledge that our school district did an excellent job preparing students for college. Now as a grandmother, my husband and I find ourselves raising our 3 orphaned grandchildren in the Plano schools. I bring a fresh conservative, common-sense approach to our district and what it’s goals are for our children, teachers and community.
Considering all issues (social, economic, national security, etc.), which of these best describes you?
Conservative
Please defend your answer to the previous question by referencing your publicly available track record.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
I am not a politician nor do I have plans to become a politician but it’s time to get involved and to bring common-sense back into decision making. Our schools need to fully open. I believe parents should be given choice between online classes at home or a traditional F2F (Face-2-Face) classroom experience. I support a superior curriculum focusing on practical skills, unity, and patriotic truth. I support promoting critical and independent thinking, free from a political agenda and propaganda. I support working with teachers and parents for the best learning environment for all children. I support establishing accountability and financial transparency. Vote for Marilyn Loughray.
Teachers who are licensed to carry should be allowed to carry guns at school.

Do you support mandatory vaccinations for children attending public school?
It’s a parent’s choice.
