What is the function of the local school board?
I believe the main purpose of the school board is to establish priorities that reflect the consensus of the community, district staff, and parents while ensuring students are receiving the best education possible. The board achieves this purpose through their range of responsibilities including adopting a balanced budget, issuing interim financial reports, managing the school calendar, negotiating contracts, approving curriculum materials, and closing or constructing schools.
Who should have the authority to set curriculum and determine resources used in those curricula?
Referencing Objective 1 of the Texas Education Code, "parents will be full partners with educators in the education of their children-" I think parents, teachers, and board members should collaborate together to set curriculum and determine the resources used in that curricula.
Please rate in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): Mathematics, Information Technology, Science, Political Activism, Personal Finances, Gender Identity, Physical Fitness, American History, Critical Race Theory, Language Arts, Art & Music, Vocational Learning, Sexuality, Foreign Language, Social Emotional Learning

Why are you running for this office?
I came to the realization that the only way to truly make a difference is to step up and get involved, which is why I am running for Plano Board of Trustees, Place 3. I know that every policy, law, rule, and regulation put in place has the greatest impact on the wellbeing of the students and their future. A wise woman said, “whoever controls the education of our children, controls the future.” It is time that we made sure today’s students still have a future filled with the same freedoms, opportunities, and liberties of the generations before them. My goal is to ensure that every student receives an even better education than I did. As a School Board Trustee, I pledge to make sure the needs of students and teachers are met while doing my due diligence to either maintain the current tax rate or lower it at the next budget cycle by being fiscally responsible.
A candidate's personal moral values should not be relevant when considering a candidacy for elective office.

I attended 1st through 12th grade in Plano Schools. I received a great education and foundation for my future. Connecting with people is an inherent specialty of mine. Relationship building carries a strong presence in every role I have held. From banking, volunteer work, serving on a board for a Young Professional nonprofit that assisted foster children in the North Texas area with education resources, connecting with elementary school children as a Junior Achievement volunteer, event coordinating and marketing, etc. - the diversity of my positions enables me to connect with individuals from all backgrounds.

I plan to continue these discussions if elected to the Plano Board of Trustee, Place 3.
