Who should have the authority to set curriculum and determine resources used in those curricula?

The school board, elected by the community, should have the authority to set the curriculum and determine resources used. The school board is accountable to their direct constituents.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am an Orthodox Christian. My faith is paramount in my life. We are raising our children to value the teaching of Jesus Christ and in the hope of our resurrection.

Why are you running for this office?

I believe the success of our students should be the mission of PISD. We have a diverse population of students and we need to facilitate academic success and growth for all. High School students are just as important as K-8th grade. We should be responding to the hopes of the children, the concerns of parents, the teachers and the community to insure a viable, prosperous, and healthy school and future. PISD needs to provide an equal path for academic success for all students. I want to work to maintain and surpass those goals. This school year has been very difficult due to the pandemic. Everyone has been affected. The need of academic support, social interaction with peers, equal access to return to school, and parental choice should be the cornerstone of PISD policy. We need transparency and accountability.

A candidate's personal moral values should not be relevant when considering a candidacy for elective office.

Which of the 11 objectives specified in the Texas Education Code is your highest priority?

Objectives number 1 and 2 are my highest priority. Parents should be full partners in the education of our children, and the education should challenge and encourage the highest possible outcomes of the students.

What books have had the most profound impact on your view of life?

I am an avid reader and read many types of books. I would start with the Bible as that is the center of my moral compass. I am Romanian; the publication Voice of the Martyrs has a profound impact on my life. Also Wounded by Love: The Life and Wisdom of Elder Porphyrios has impacted my life. I am a history and classic literature aficionado. I also like to keep current on business books as I am self employed and a business owner.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

I am invested in PISD and education on a daily basis. I have 3 students currently in PISD. 2 are in High School and one in Middle school. I also have two at University. I am a member of the Career and Technical Education committee for PISD.The vocational classes are critical to help our students earning potential directly after high school.I am Vice Chairman of the Community Relation Commission for the City of Plano.I have been involved in Rasor, Hendrick, Clark, and Plano Senior PTAs. For the last two years I have attended the PISD Board Meetings and Work Session. I closely follow to gain a better understanding on how the board is making decisions.

Considering all issues (social, economic, national security, etc.), which of these best describes you?

Please defend your answer to the previous question by referencing your publicly available track record.

I am a registered voter and vote in local and national primaries and elections. I also served as the Republican Election Judge for the past 3 elections in Plano TX.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I am a political/religious asylum immigrant from Communist Romania. We came to America for freedom of religion and political expression. These freedoms are the mainstays of our life. I was an ESL student, translated for my parents for my siblings as I got older. Education was critical in providing a path to success and we should maintain high standards of education.

2nd Amendment

Teachers who are licensed to carry should be allowed to carry guns at school.

Other Important Issues

Do you support mandatory vaccinations for children attending public school?
