Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not be a resource for instruction or services in the school.
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
School districts should be able to use taxpayer money for lobbying the state legislature.
School districts should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
At school, students should be able to speak freely and civilly about matters of conscience and faith, including Christianity.
Students should not be allowed to pray in school.
What is the function of the local school board?
The school board serves to provide local oversight to all aspects of community public education. This includes setting goals for performance, policies for all schools and employees, guidance on appropriate and accurate curriculum, and sound responsible management of taxpayer funds. The school board should work with the parents and taxpayers to ensure concerns are addressed as they relate to both educational and financial issues.
Who should have the authority to set curriculum and determine resources used in those curricula?
Often State Boards of Education set curriculum. However, I feel the local school board needs a voice in this process, in partnership with parents. I support ensuring our students are educated and not indoctrinated, and that curriculum needs to be fully vetted for accuracy with history and without influence of social constructs that may be popular with some at a given point in time.
Please rate in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): Mathematics, Information Technology, Science, Political Activism, Personal Finances, Gender Identity, Physical Fitness, American History, Critical Race Theory, Language Arts, Art & Music, Vocational Learning, Sexuality, Foreign Language, Social Emotional Learning
Mathematics, Information Technology, Science, American History,Language Arts, Art & Music, Physical Fitness, Vocational Learning,Personal Finances, Foreign Language
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Our state should participate in the nationwide Common Core standards for high-school graduation.
Schools should use Social Emotional Learning (SEL) curriculum and resources to teach emotions, values, and relationships.
I support the teaching of the 1619 Project emphasizing slavery and racism as the foundation of American history.
When students are taught courses such as Comprehensive Sex Ed (CSE) or Social Emotional Learning (SEL), they must opt-in with written parental permission.
Parents are the ultimate authority in their child’s education and should be able to freely pursue whatever educational options they deem best for their child.
No healthcare diagnosis or treatment, whether mental, reproductive, or otherwise, should be given to a child without first receiving written consent from the parent.
Who is responsible for teaching sexual education to children, and what is the appropriate age when it should be taught?
Sexual education should be a subject that is handled by families and parents. Other than general health being taught, these topics need to be left out of the schools in order to respect all personal, religious and moral beliefs.
If you support the teaching of Sex Ed, please answer the following question: Sexual education should include these topics (list all that apply and add your own, if needed) -- Physical and emotional health outcomes; contraceptive methods; consent; abstinence; sexual orientation and gender identity; human anatomy/the reproductive system; abortion methods and side effects; stages of pregnancy and fetal development; sex acts and pleasures of sex
I would support a general health class that includes human biology, anatomy and coverage of the reproductive system. I would also support stages of pregnancy.
No school official should be involved in the sexual transitioning of a student. All issues on this subject should be referred to the parents of the student.
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality that is necessary for our system of limited government.
Teachers should not use alternative names and pronouns without parental permission.
Therapy for children who have unwanted same-sex attraction should be banned.
I support allowing students to use public restrooms, showers, and changing rooms, and to participate in athletic competition based on the gender with which they identify instead of biological sex.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I believe in Jesus as the Son of God and the one true path to Heaven. I believe salvation to be a personal decision for eternal salvation. I believe the Bible provides a path for our life journey, and that while the world changes, the Word remains the same. I believe in a conservative, traditional approach to life and to family.
Why are you running for this office?
I'm running for School Board to bring not only conservative values to the Board, but to bring the voice of a parent with a child actively and currently in the District school system. We need to ensure continued in-person learning, not virtual learning that leaves our children at risk for failure, lower expectations, depression and mental health concerns, and other impacts such as abuse and food insecurities. My passion is to balance a conservative approach to fiscal management with the mission to ensure all children have the skills they need upon graduation to be fully employable, contributing members of our society. We need an approach to learning that ensures our kids are ready for the jobs of the future so they are not left behind in the global economy.
A candidate's personal moral values should not be relevant when considering a candidacy for elective office.
Which of the 11 objectives specified in the Texas Education Code is your highest priority?
Objective 4: A well-balanced and appropriate curriculum will be provided to all students. Through that curriculum, students will be prepared to succeed in a variety of post-secondary activities, including employment and enrollment in institutions of higher education. Not all children will attend college. For those that choose, I would like to see more programs for internships, certifications, and other programs that launch students straight from graduation to successful employment.
