What is the function of the local school board?
Our school board is responsible for ensuring that each and every pre-kindergarten-12th grade student gets the best education possible. This is achieved through fostering strong community partnerships, maintaining fiscal responsibility, and providing high quality resources and support to all stakeholders.
Who should have the authority to set curriculum and determine resources used in those curricula?
Although our curriculum standards (TEKS - Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills) come from the state, our district should have authority to design a logical pacing to teach these standards and provide high-quality, engaging instructional resources for our teachers to teach the standards. As educated professionals, our teachers should have autonomy to deliver their lessons in ways that best meet the unique needs of the students in their classrooms.
Please rate in order the following priorities in relation to the role of a K-12 public school (omitting any that do not apply): Mathematics, Information Technology, Science, Political Activism, Personal Finances, Gender Identity, Physical Fitness, American History, Critical Race Theory, Language Arts, Art & Music, Vocational Learning, Sexuality, Foreign Language, Social Emotional Learning

Why are you running for this office?
As a current educator and mother of an AISD student, I have a genuine, vested interest in advocating for the children and teachers of our community and strengthening the integrity of our district. I will bring critical insight straight from the classrooms into to our school board’s discussions and decisions so we can authentically improve our instruction during and after the pandemic, strengthen our family engagement, and retain our top notch personnel for the sake of our children.

This is my first year in my current position as a districtwide literacy instructional coach in Mansfield ISD. I curate and present professional development sessions, design reading and writing curriculum with research-based best practices, and create engaging instructional resources for for both in-person and virtual learners. I am in 3rd and 4th grade classrooms every day, directly helping teachers to enhance their instruction.
