Right to Life

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Agree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Agree

I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.

Strongly Agree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

I value all life, from conception to natural death, so I do not personally support abortion. As a member of Congress, I will fight for the rights of the unborn while honoring my oath of office: “I solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion, and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.”

Economy

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Strongly Disagree

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?

A great, vibrant, ever-expanding economy where every worker can seek and hold a good-paying job is the best way to secure the Social Security program for generations to come.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

We need to be cautious in calling for a "balanced budget" because this objective could be met simply by raising taxes to match excessive government spending. Currently, the vast majority of federal spending is on mandatory programs such as Social Security and Medicare. I would begin with getting rid of redundant or unnecessary discretionary spending, then reducing remaining discretionary spending by a fixed percentage each year until federal spending is more reasonable.

Under what circumstances should taxpayers help pay off existing student loans?

Under no circumstances.

Religious Liberty

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.

Yes

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

"The principle that government must maintain an attitude of neutrality toward religion. Many view separation of church and state as required by the First Amendment. The First Amendment not only allows citizens the freedom to practice any religion of their choice, but also prevents the government from officially recognizing or favoring any religion."

Healthcare

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.

Disagree

I support the elimination of private healthcare insurance.

Strongly Disagree

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

A healthy, vibrant economy enables people to earn an income to support a healthy lifestyle and choose the type of privately-available healthcare insurance that best suits their family's needs. A healthy economy also supports the Medicare and Medicaid programs. The private health care insurance industry is made better by competition, resulting in a menu of better priced choices, from policies that cover routine checkups to those that cover catastrophic events. As a member of Congress, I would work on federal legislation that supports interstate competition in the healthcare industry, and international availability of lower-cost prescription drugs. A significant part of the healthcare challenge, however, occurs at the state level. In Delaware, for example, Certificates of Need limit competition, reduce access to care, and raise prices. I would work with state officials to revamp or replace this program.

National Security

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Strongly Agree

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?

We must build and maintain a strong national defense, including border security and an intelligence apparatus that identifies and prohibits entry by any person posing a threat to the United States. We should build alliances with the civilized world to eliminate leaders of Islamic terrorist organizations and to prevent the formation of new terrorist states.

Immigration

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Agree

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.

Strongly Agree

Employers should be required to use E-verify to confirm the eligibility of their employees to work in the United States.

Neutral

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Those whose immigrant petitions and visa applications are approved by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and the National Visa Center should be allowed to immigrate to the United States.

Education

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Disagree

Values

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Agree

I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

My spiritual beliefs are deeply rooted in Christianity. I believe all men and women are created in the image of God, and that Jesus Christ is the son of God. I have a personal relationship with my Creator, and pray daily for guidance and forgiveness. My actions are consistent with my Christian values.

Qualifications

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

My views have been consistent over the years, and are publicly validated in the following sources: www.goMurph.com @goMurph2020 Facebook and Twitter various radio, print and television interviews, most of which are shared on social media

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

no

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

As a former teacher, I believe strongly in school choice so that parents can gain access to a quality education for their children. In honor of my daughter, I am dedicated to the prevention and long-term treatment of drug and opioid abuse and addiction.

Criminal Justice

Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.

Agree

2nd Amendment

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

I support the 2nd Amendment as written. Until recently, those deemed "mentally defective" were prohibited from owning guns. I believe, however, that Congress should consider restricting the purchase of guns only by those individuals who clearly display risk factors for violence, including risk of suicide, which accounts for half of all U.S. gun violence.

Other Important Issues

I support BDS (boycott, divestment, and sanction) against Israel if they refuse to allow the creation of a Palestinian state.

Neutral

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Strongly Disagree

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Strongly Disagree

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?

1. My first goal will be to bring manufacturing jobs back to Delaware to re-ignite our state economy after COVID-19. I will begin with drafting and passing legislation that incentivizes pharmaceutical manufacturing companies to leave China, where it poses a significant national security risk, and return to Delaware and the United States. 2. These efforts will be in conjunction with supporting legislation that protects and strengthens the all-important agricultural industry in Delaware. 3. Lastly, because Delaware is disproportionately impacted by the drug/opioid epidemic, I will make sure that Delaware gets its fair share of federal funds earmarked for the crisis in order to implement a two-pronged approach: prevention on the front end, and long-term treatment for those ready to get help on the back end.

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Racism, as hijacked by the Radical Left in their efforts to force their agenda on the American People, is a threat to the safety and security of all, including the perpetrators.
