Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

I value both the lives of the mother and the baby through all of its life stages. There are also extenuating circumstances that we need to address with compassion, empathy and with grace for women in their individual life experiences.

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?

There are several things the United States can do to eradicate radical Islamic terrorism: 1) Stop foreign aid to all governments that support and aid radical Islamic terrorism; 2) Impose economic and financial sanctions on those same governments; 3) Give moral support to those within those governments who are fighting radical Islamic terrorists inside their countries; 4) Make sure that we secure our borders and thoroughly vet all immigrants from within those countries; and 5) Targeted use of special forces to destroy terrorists and its resources.

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

The Founders knew that power has a powerful corrupting influence on people. They felt that the government closest to the people would be able to be controlled by the people. They also knew that the trait of greed and the lust for power could best be controlled by 3 competing and equal branches of government who would jealously guard their power and prevent one branch from becoming more powerful than another.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

The centerpiece of my belief is having God first and like the scriptures share, to love my neighbor as myself. What that means to me is demonstrating integrity, honesty, perseverance, and the greatest of these core values, love. it is my faith that guides and sustains me with hope for a better day, for myself, for families, and for our great country.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

Obamacare has dramatically increased insurance costs, limited individuals’ insurance choices, and resulted in lower quality medical care. If we are unable to repeal it, then I will work to reverse its negative effects. Fundamentally, we must ensure that high quality health care remains accessible, affordable, and portable.  I favor enacting laws that increase the flexibility of pre-tax Health Savings Accounts so that individuals can buy insurance with tax-free funds.  I also support laws that allow “pooling” by associations, religious groups, and small businesses so that people can buy insurance at lower, group rates. I believe that we must act to ensure that Social Security and Medicare remain financially solvent and available for our seniors.

What role should government play in boosting the economy?

The Republican tax law has resulted in a wave of wage increases, bonuses, new investment in America, job growth, and increased 401(k) matching by employers.  When we reduce the tax burden and regulations on small businesses as well as large employers, we promote job creation and economic growth. The role of the government in boosting the economy should be limited to: 1) only the few regulations needed to protect the public and those mandated by constitutional legislation and not by unelected bureaucrats; 2) a tax environment that is constitutional and not based on "spreading the wealth" - the immoral practice of taking from one the fruits of their labor and giving it to another in the guise of social justice; and 3) scaling back the power of unelected bureaucracies which in the past has been used as an end to run around the Constitution and Congress.

What changes should be made to the tax code?

I applaud the passage of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act by Republicans last December, but there’s more we need to do.  While we have the current tax system, I’ll join other Republicans to fight to keep taxes low, to make the recently passed middle class tax cuts permanent, and to eliminate a loophole that allows corporations to take advantage of state and local tax deductions but prohibits small businesses from doing the same.

What is the best way to bring down unemployment?

I believe in the American dream. Today's employment landscape requires support for small businesses and entrepreneurs. However, we have a great need for technical skills in Florida and must acknowledge alternative pathways instead of just four year colleges.

How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?

Social Security is on an unsustainable path that we must address. Congress has the responsibility to the American worker who have paid out their whole life to have this benefit during retirement. We must create a safety net for our aging seniors now and engineer a modern strategy for the future that is sustainable. In good faith, we must respect American workers contribution to their financial security.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

I have the specific and relevant experience on the federal level to navigate the lay of the land and effectively make change. Not only am I an attorney, I was a former staffer to both United States Senators Mel Martinez and George LeMieux of Florida. I worked with John Mica who was the former Republican Congressman for the seat I am now running for. I gained insight into what is required for the 7th congressional district to have a voice on Capitol Hill and be heard. In my work in bringing stakeholders to the table, bipartisan bridges were built that provided a path for legislation to move forward. I care about the 7th congressional district because this is my hometown. You can rest assured that I have the skill sets and knowledge to make the needed changes.
