Right to Life

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Agree

I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.

Agree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

When the life of the baby and mother are at risk, those decisions need to be made by doctors and patients, not legislators. With Roe V Wade as the current precedent we must focus our efforts on things like easing the adoption process or issues that can help reduce abortion rates instead of laws that will cost millions of dollars to defend in court that will be swiftly struck down. While I was displeased with the wording of the failed constitutional amendment, I would favor a similar amendment to the Kansas constitution. The authority over abortion should be with the legislative branch, not the courts.

Economy

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Strongly Disagree

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

Kansas prisons are overcapacity due to us locking people up who do not need to be. The criminal justice reforms I propose on my website will save the state money. We can cut this 372 day per year pension scheme for legislators.

Religious Liberty

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Agree

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

Strongly Disagree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Agree

I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.

Yes

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

There should be no state sponsored or imposed religions.

Healthcare

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.

Strongly Disagree

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

The massive amount of regulations put into the health care and insurance industry in the last few decades has created a system in which only large corporations can compete. Only these large corporations can cover the incredible compliance labor and legal costs. This has resulted in very little competition and skyrocketing prices. Until this excessively burdensome regulatory structure is dismantled there will be no new entrants into the market, there will be no new competition for your money and costs will stay the same or continue to rise.

National Security

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Agree

Immigration

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Disagree

State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.

Strongly Disagree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Any peaceful person that wants to live here should have that opportunity. That process should be a thousand times easier than it currently is. We will still have borders, it just needs to be so much simpler.

Education

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Disagree

Values

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Disagree

I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Agree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

My Christian faith has been a main driver in my decision to run for public office. I'm horrified at the injustice and inhumanity our "justice" system in Kansas. We do not treat people in a Christ like manner through our government. I think the best way for the Christian faith to thrive is in a free society with very limited government. When Jesus talks about clothing the naked, feeding the hungry, visiting the imprisoned, and caring for the sick, He tells us to do those things. He does not tell us vote for some government agency to those things for us. "Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me." I think we as Christians too often try to fulfill this through our votes and government. When we have a secular government doing this for us, we miss out sharing Christ's love and Word and we miss on learning from the faith those we would serve often have.

Qualifications

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

No Answer

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

I am a member of the Libertarian Party and our views do fit neatly into the Conservative to Liberal scale and I wouldn't describe myself as a moderate. That leaves me unable to answer that question.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

My path towards running for office and the Libertarian party started with my History minor in college. This is when I first really studied our founding era and it let led to the question how did we let government become so big? I have always served my community. From helping to start Habitat chapters on college and high school campuses in Omaha to driving senior citizens for JetExpress in the Kansas City area, to volunteering in my previous union, I enjoy serving God by serving my community.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

Please check out my website. I have put more information there explaining my positions than almost any other state house campaign website. District 23 voters, don’t hesitate to reach out!

Judicial Philosophy

I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.

Strongly Disagree

Criminal Justice

Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.

Strongly Disagree

2nd Amendment

Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?

Yes

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

Kansas gun laws are adequate currently. To help reduce the number of domestic violence killings, I am open to gun restrictions after some misdemeanor domestic violence convictions. They would be shorter term restrictions.

Other Important Issues

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Agree

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Strongly Agree

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?

A host of simple criminal justice reforms likes cannabis legalization, abolishing civil asset forfeiture, cutting maximum probation lengths in half and eliminating state imposed fines and fees to be on probation or parole. Ending the sales tax on groceries.

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

The racist roots of cannabis criminalization and the War on Drugs are and have been the biggest threats to domestic peace and security. When racist views become law, domestic security is threatened.
