Right to Life

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Agree

I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.

Strongly Agree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

For saving of the life of the mother and when chance of saving child is limited. I have some personal concerns about cases of rape/incest that give me heart wrenching emotions. As a law officer and child abuse investigator I have dealt with those victims too. It tears my heart up either way. This is one reason I am such a public supporter of adoption and foster care reform in Kansas. I will never forget my visit to the neo-natal ward in Cook County Hospital in Chicago many years ago. My aunt was a charge nurse there. Looking at bed or incubator after bed of preemies ingrained in me that those unborn babies are truly alive and children. Abortion is killing a child that is a gift of God.

Economy

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Disagree

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

We need to reduce the number of bureaucrats and regulatory polices that hamper our economy.

Religious Liberty

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

Strongly Agree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.

Yes

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

Exactly as it reads in the constitution. That means that the government can not limit my choice. I always tell my students "those who say we can't pray in school have never been in this classroom at finals time."

Healthcare

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.

Disagree

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

Clearly medical care costs need to be lowered so that total insurance is lower. We see huge cost overruns for prescriptions and specialty care because congress allows manufacturers to charge huge amounts and gives special help to those who donate to their campaigns. Cost comparison and price monitoring would help get costs down. I am completely against Obama Care.

National Security

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Strongly Agree

Immigration

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Agree

State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.

Agree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Those who meet US law and properly enter following our regulations.

Education

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Disagree

Values

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I grew up in the Swedish Covenant Church and my father attended North Park Seminary in Chicago when I was little. I grew up in churches with my family and completed confirmation in the Covenant Church. I accepted Jesus as a youth in my church. At the time of my marriage I decided to join with my wife and attend the Lutheran Church, partially because there were not many Covenant Churches in our living area. I belong to our local Lutheran Church where I am an Elder and do youth work. My wife also works at our church in child care. The Bible is the ultimate guide and my beliefs tend to follow along with Martin Luther.

Qualifications

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

As a teacher in social studies now I absolutely teach supply side economics and capitalism over any other system. My classes are taught that through a variety of ways. Socialism will destroy our freedom. Respect of leaders is important, but when they begin to take religious and moral authority away they must be met with political activism, one reason I am running for office. Two of my sons are highly decorated military veterans, combat wounded with multiple tours. A strong military is needed to protect our freedom. Along with that I am a strong defender of 2nd amendment rights. I am alive today as well as all three of my sons because of guns. My 3rd son is a police officer and a weapon saved his life when he was wounded by an attacker. Socialists will take away our weapons and then our freedoms. Regarding immigration we need to enforce our current immigration laws and complete building the wall. My family were immigrants, but they came over legally.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

In my 31 years in the criminal justice field I have developed many important governmental skills including administration of agencies. My masters in justice are an advanced level of study in that field. I have published a number of articles concerning weapons, training, and mental health for public safety personnel. I also developed special skills as a child abuse investigator. I have now taught school 15 years and have a masters in education and was named Kansas HS teacher of the year and Kansas City, Kansas teacher of the year. I coached football and powerlifting for many years.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

Please look at my website https://messagesforchildren.weebly.com/ That is who I am and what I believe. Tim Johnson

Judicial Philosophy

I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.

Strongly Disagree

Criminal Justice

Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.

Strongly Agree

2nd Amendment

Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?

Yes

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

The laws currently in place are sufficient to monitor gun purchases. People have a right to own weapons of their choice. I do support my state funding better gun safety and hunter safety programs for the public. Concealed carry is a reasonable extension of 2nd amendment rights.

Other Important Issues

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Disagree

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Disagree

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?

1. Support "Value Them Both Amendment" in Kansas to stop our state from becoming an abortion mill. Will follow the lead of Lutherans For Life of my Church in this. 2. Modify the adoption and foster care laws to aid in helping people help those needing homes for children. Am seeking to be placed on the foster care committee when elected. 3. Support of educational funding, especially Career-Technical-Education for secondary and community colleges.

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

The concept that the United States is a racist nation is not correct. It is a term being used by socialist individuals seeking to use it to divide our country. People are called out as racist and immediately have to defend themselves, when in truth they are juding people on individual merit. Using the term racist is now a weapon of socialists that follows very closely the battle plan of the early communists in Russia and in China during the takeover.
