Right to Life

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Agree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Agree

I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.

Strongly Agree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Rape,incest,health/life of the mother,non-viability of fetus

Economy

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Agree

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?

There needs to be a general overhaul of the social security system, including allowing for younger workers to place their social security funds in government approved, conservative, private investments. There will probably need to be a one-time shoring up of the social security trust fund to ensure that all those above the age of 45 have access to the monies they have already paid into the Social Security program, while changing the system of current earners paying the payments to current recipients.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

I would look at all areas and reduce redundant and excessive spending. I would look to see where state and local governments should take the fiscal responsibility for various concerns. There are no sacrosanct areas that are off the table for fiscal reform.

Under what circumstances should taxpayers help pay off existing student loans?

Only if a comprehensive education reform bill is passed (requiring information on potential careers & salaries within majors, education loan repayment plan reform, financial oversight on schools that use federal loan/grant money, caps on loans, etc.) can there be means-tested federal aid in paying off student loans of graduates. Also, in cases of severe financial hardship the loans should be either deferred or cancelled.

Religious Liberty

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Agree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.

Yes

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

Government should be active in protecting the rights of all religions without promoting or giving higher precedence to any particular faith tradition. People of all faiths (or lack thereof) should feel welcomed to participate in every way in the public square. Students should not feel excluded in public education due to having a different faith tradition than other students. I am in favor of promoting all religions through tax breaks, allowing churches to preach and adhere to core theology on life and sexuality, and encouraging the participation of all faith traditions in public policy decisions. I encourage the use of education vouchers so that families can provide education that aligns with their personal values.

Healthcare

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.

Disagree

I support the elimination of private healthcare insurance.

Strongly Disagree

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

I propose encouraging more students to become doctors by paying for their medical school education in return for a 5-year commitment to work in clinics set up in communities throughout the nation. Having a plethora of such clinics would allow accessible inexpensive healthcare for those in poor and middle class communities. In addition, there needs to be large-scale insurance reform: allowing for portability of insurance, a la carte insurance options, and less dependence upon employer-provided insurance. There should be encouragement at the high school and college level for more students to enter the medical field as general practitioner physicians or highly qualified physician assistants. I support upfront pricing information on medical visits and procedures.

National Security

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Agree

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?

Help stabilize the Middle East by promoting education and fighting poverty in the region. Firmly distinguish between the religious Islamic community and terrorism, and advocate for religious freedom provisions that will improve interdenominational tolerance and promote domestic peace. Military force should deploy to defend large-scale national security threats to ourselves and our allies, while peacekeeping forces should partner with U.S. programs like USAID to stabilize regions to the point that ongoing military presence is no longer necessary. America must continue to promote peace in the region by supporting Israel and lead efforts for diplomatic ties between Israel and its neighbors.

Immigration

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Neutral

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) should be abolished.

Disagree

State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.

Disagree

Employers should be required to use E-verify to confirm the eligibility of their employees to work in the United States.

Disagree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

I believe in broad immigration. Those who can get work (skilled or unskilled labor) should be allowed in, as long as we need the workers. We should encourage education visas. We should help refugees who are fleeing oppression, in many forms, and give them asylum in the United States, helping them find work, assimilate into their communities, and receive the education they need to be successful. We need to do due diligence in stopping those with criminal records in their country of origin from entering the United States, and if immigrants commit violent felonies they should be returned to their original country.

Education

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Disagree

Values

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

No Answer

I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Agree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I believe that all people are children of God, and should therefore be treated as equals with dignity and respect. My strong belief in Christ and His teachings calls on me to show compassion and unqualified love for all people. I believe the gospel of Christ is an invitation, and that true faith is cheapened by government mandate. I attend church every week and actively practice my faith. Worship is a key part of my life and my relationship to God, and all people of all faiths have the same protected right to worship.

Qualifications

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I believe in solving problems. I don't believe that one side has all the answers and I believe that Americans are best served by bipartisan solutions. I believe in winning the hearts and minds of people to a cause instead of mandating and forcing compliance. I believe that if people are given complete information that they are capable of arriving at the best answers to help themselves, their families, and their communities.

Criminal Justice

Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.

Strongly Disagree

2nd Amendment

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

I'm in favor of gun owner licensing (first time you get a gun becoming licensed with proof of appropriate use knowledge - like a driver's license), mandatory safety standards (storage, trigger locks, etc), red flag laws, and closing certain minimal ownership loopholes (such as the boyfriend loophole)

Other Important Issues

I support BDS (boycott, divestment, and sanction) against Israel if they refuse to allow the creation of a Palestinian state.

Strongly Disagree

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Disagree

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Disagree

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Disagree

In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?

1. Compassionate immigration reform 2. Medical access reform 3. Fiscal responsibility reform - seeking a comprehensive panel to explore where the government can be more efficient, where funds can be reallocated to paying off the national debt, what taxes should be cut or raised, where funds should be given to the states for more efficient use, where government should be funded and provided by state and local governments, etc.

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Yes. Inequality by government or individuals weakens the ability of the nation to work together in crises. Allowing unchecked abuses by people in authority against any minority group builds resentment and anger, threatening the social contract upon which this nation is founded. If individuals are not equally protected then they feel less bound by the laws and regulations of their community. If people receive different treatment under the law based upon their race or ethnicity then those same people will feel freer to rebel. If educational opportunities do not meet the needs of a racial or ethnic minority then they will not be able to be employable at a living wage. If people struggle to gain employment due to their race or ethnicity then the economic problems will lead to unrest. In addition, the problems that come from racial superiority lead to emotional and physical violence against those who are deemed beneath those who feel racially superior.
