Right to Life

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Abortions should be allowed up until the age of viability of a child outside of the womb (roughly 20 weeks), with the exception of those pregnancies that are life threatening to the mother or in which it is determined that the child will not survive a birth. All abortions should be privately funded.

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?

An increase on Social Security contributions in order to fill the 25% projected gap estimated in 2035, and a means adjusted disbursement model to be implemented as soon as possible. Those receiving social security disability payments should be given adequate healthcare and vocational/ small business supports in order to reenter the workforce or business community, and contribute again to social security funds. Dependents of disabled recipients and survivor benefits should also be means adjusted.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

I would greatly reduce Defense spending, and reallocate funds toward peacekeeping efforts and humanitarian aide. I would also end propping of large corporations of any kind. Lost earnings due to bad investments are part of the gamble. I would open government contract bidding to smaller organizations, and call for fiscal and personnel audits of all federal agencies and contractors, including non profits.

Under what circumstances should taxpayers help pay off existing student loans?

To begin, I would like to state that I would not authorize the payment of interest or late fees to the Department of Education in any federal student loan repayment. Loans should be cancelled in the event of any permanent disability. Interest of existing loans should continue its freeze, and when interest resumes, it should be comparable to the market rates.

Religious Liberty

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

The state should not favor any organization based upon its religious orientation. Tax exemptions for religious organizations should also be limited to those activities that are addressing the preservation of life and liberty for the local community that have tangible economic impact. The state also has an obligation to protect its citizens from exploitative practices of those who make spiritual or religious claims that deceptively part people from their money. The gifts of the Spirit are given freely, and should not be sold. Individuals elected to serve within the government should be free to rely upon both their intellectual understanding of issues as well as their personal conscience and values. The state should not infringe upon the free speech or demonstration of religious beliefs/ assembly, unless there is an immediate threat of violence.

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.

I support the elimination of private healthcare insurance.

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

All residents should have access to immediate life saving measures in cases of emergency and acute illness. Preventative care and screenings should be provided to all citizens free of charge on a bi-annual basis, as a public health service. I would support a Universal Healthcare fund for these services, as well as an increase in community health clinics and mobile services. Additional insurance coverage for catastrophic illness, chronic disease and for those with pre-existing conditions should be supplemented based upon income, with cost limits. Private insurance could remain available for prolonged care and to gain access to newer technologies and medications, but I would also support the promotion of healthcare cooperatives, with dividends repaid to members and/ or investors.

National Security

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Strongly Disagree

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?

The United States should refrain from foreign interference, especially in religious unrest. In these cases, our support should be in the form of promoting peace and protecting those who are attempting to flee violence, without favor for either side. Our reliance on force brings destruction which then causes a sense of desperation and an opportunity for extremists to recruit young people who don't perceive better options for justice.

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Disagree

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) should be abolished.

State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.

Strongly Disagree

Employers should be required to use E-verify to confirm the eligibility of their employees to work in the United States.

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

I believe we should work to embody the wording on the Statue of Liberty "Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore." The wretched refuse... the one's noone else wants. The injured, the tired, those who have nothing to offer. Christ Said "Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28 These are the ones we are to embrace. It is the true "Great" American legacy. It is an honor to be a nation that can and will provide rest.

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a follower of Christ. I start each day with a prayer following the format of the Lord's Prayer, and walk in prayer through the day. I believe we are beings created by God for the purpose of appreciating and illuminating His glory. I believe he wants only good things for all of his children. I read scripture daily, sometimes in dedicated study and pursuit of specific understanding, sometimes just enjoying an audio version of the Psalms or Proverbs. I believe that God desires above all that we love Him, and love our neighbors, and that as we seek His kingdom he extends His grace. I believe that He has clearly shown us through the Bible and the guidance of the Holy Spirit that what he requires of us is to "Act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly" with Him. (Micah 6:8). I also believe that God is less concerned with our testimony, moralistic stances, or praise, and much more concerned with how we treat the "least of these" and respect his creation.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Somewhat Liberal

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

Our nation has the resources needed to provide long, healthy lives, free from oppression, and quite abundant both to our own citizens and others around the globe. Far too often, we choose to uplift our selves in pursuit of wealth, power, and moral superiority. We live in comfort and contentment that blinds us from the power we hold to improve the lives of our neighbors in love. I am very concerned with the divisiveness in modern politics. I believe we have been conditioned to respond to fear and pride, both being masters that only demand destruction. I pray that our nation, and world, will come to a point of thinking in terms of "We" the people, rather than "Us vs. Them"

Criminal Justice

Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.

Strongly Disagree

2nd Amendment

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

No ownership under age 21. Adult supervised permit use for minors. Testing, safety training and liability insurance required for registration. No lawful possession: violent offenders Holding periods: domestic disputes/ mental health threats

Other Important Issues

I support BDS (boycott, divestment, and sanction) against Israel if they refuse to allow the creation of a Palestinian state.

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Strongly Agree

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

The Electoral College should be abolished.

In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?

Education reform, with emphasis on individualized growth, vocational training, and quality over quantity in higher education. Economic relief and support for communities with high vacancy ratios in both housing and commercial properties, in order to promote more self-sustaining communities. Supports for low and middle income earners and small businesses to allow them to save up to 10% of their income pre-tax, for emergency funds, housing investment, or transportation needs in the following year. Police reform. A call to require professional liability insurance for all officers of the law that would cover the costs of criminal and civil proceedings. To require ongoing professional development, including social-emotional supports for officers. An end to qualified immunity.

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Racism is the single greatest threat to our domestic security. Having open division between communities based upon color, paired with calls for systemic justice, and the wide availability and use of deadly force (by both police and private citizens), we are seeing a perfect storm for a race-based civil war- again. Only, this time the warfare will look more like the extremist methods seen overseas, unpredictable and terrifying. This threat is only strengthened by the divisive narrative of our leaders and media outlets, including social media. I fear that people will continue to gravitate toward extreme thinking, and that more people will consider their neighbors as enemies. I pray that I am wrong.
