Questionnaire

Please note: Responses are entered electronically by the candidate and are listed verbatim.

Right to Life

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Neutral

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Agree

I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.

Strongly Agree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

When the fetus is not viable enough for birth to be induced and be put on life support. That window will shrink over time as advances in medical technology continue.

Economy

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Disagree

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

Government entitlements need to be reduced, through reform of the departments that administer them, to cut waste, inefficiencies, and fraud. Social Security and Medicare withholding increases need to be looked at, as well as increasing the age of eligibility. Overhauling health care will have to include Medicare. Government pensions will also need reform, in terms of eliminating defined benefit, replacing it with a contribution plan, and raising the age for starting withdrawal from the plan.

Religious Liberty

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Agree

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

Disagree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.

Yes

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

A government cannot favor one religion over another, and legislation must avoid religious overtones as much as possible. A government cannot compel a person to violate their religious beliefs so long as those beliefs do not cause physical harm to others.

Healthcare

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.

Disagree

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

We need complete reform of the ACA. It has exacerbated the serious problems with the previous system, and has caused runaway costs and further limitations on access to what is in fact the best medical care available in the world. The best way out of this is to facilitate and incentivize competition among health care providers and comparison shopping by health care consumers. The competition is fostered by requiring transparency of care costs by providers that is easily accessible to consumers. Comparison shopping can be fostered by promoting and incentivizing lower cost catastrophic coverage and universal, portable, expanded Health Savings Accounts. In addition, the excessive coverage mandates of ACA should be eliminated, while maintaining coverage for prior conditions, but at a higher cost when those conditions are due to lifestyle choices, such as smoking, alcohol, or illegal drugs.

National Security

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Strongly Agree

Immigration

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Agree

State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.

Strongly Agree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Those who apply through our current naturalization processes, and those who demonstrate that they are political refugees. This latter group must show that they have fled their country of origin because of fear for their lives because of ethnic cleansing or stripping of all civil liberties by an oppressive government. We do need to raise the quotas on legal immigration for reasons of economic prosperity - countries with increasing populations enjoy increased prosperity for all.

Education

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Disagree

Values

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Agree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a skeptic or agnostic concerning the existence of God and afterlife. I practice Judao-Christion values in my everyday life. I support and defend the freedom of religious expression, and the sanctity of life.

Qualifications

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

The challenges facing us are numerous and difficult, which makes the task of governance enormously complicated. My training and career in engineering and high technology have given me the ability to deeply analyze difficult problems, look critically at competing ideas, and work with others to come up with the best solutions. With these skills, I strongly believe that I can contribute to a better Colorado.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

(Did not answer)

Judicial Philosophy

I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.

Strongly Disagree

Criminal Justice

Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.

Strongly Agree

2nd Amendment

Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?

Yes

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

There are no additional restrictions on gun ownership required. Automatic weapons are banned except through background checks and registration. For non-automatic weapons background checks are required for every gun purchase. There are restrictions in many states for magazine sizes. In many states there are red flag laws, which impinge on due process and illegal search and seizure. Other than background checks, all other restrictions are excessive and ineffective at increasing public safety.

Other Important Issues

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Neutral

The Electoral College should be abolished.

(Did not answer)

In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?

Legislation to reduce regulations and fees. The elected officials of Colorado have expanded regulations and fees, thereby increasing the size of the regulatory state, with bureaucrats controlling more and more of Coloradans' lives. Legislation to repeal the sanctuary state policy of Colorado, and foster more cooperation between the state and federal officials to take off the street felons who are illegally in this country, making our communities more safe. Legislation to fund more school choice and charter schools, giving our less well off communities a path to prosperity. Legislation to establish opportunity zones in poorer communities, creating jobs and opportunities for small businesses.

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Incidents of racism do occur but they do not rise to the level of a threat to domestic security. Current threats to domestic security are from gangs funded by drug cartels, and anarchists bent on random destruction and violence, under cover of radical socialist movements.
