Right to Life

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Agree

I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.

Strongly Agree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

The only time abortion should be allowed to be considered is if the life of the mother is at risk.

Economy

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Strongly Disagree

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

1) Education Week grades Iowa at a C- on education so what have we been getting with the automatic increases in spending? The only way I would support continued increases in spending is if class sizes are lowered so that teachers can focus more on actually teaching. I also believe this can be achieved more economically through a voucher program. 2) I do not support the DNR continuing to buy up so much land. There is certainly money to be saved here.

Religious Liberty

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

Strongly Agree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.

Yes

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

I believe this means that government should not establish a religion or tax religious organizations.

Healthcare

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.

Strongly Disagree

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

This issue begins with the individual and education. We must begin by teaching children at as young of ages as possible better habits so that when they become adults they may not have to rely as heavily on healthcare or prescriptions as adults. Any sort of preventative care and education will save everyone money and increase the quality of life for people in the long run. I think most people believe we have adequate, accessible, and great healthcare but affordability is the big issue. I do not think it is an accident that when government gets more involved that the cost goes up. We need to figure out how to increase competition in the private sector to decrease premiums and costs.

National Security

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Strongly Agree

Immigration

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Agree

State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.

Strongly Agree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Anyone who shows they are willing to be a law abiding citizen.

Education

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Disagree

Values

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

For one to be saved they must turn from their self centered path of destruction and accept Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. This will result in a new "born again" life that is Christ centered and other oriented.

Qualifications

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

I believe that the individual is more capable of creating a happy and prosperous life than the government. As a society's morals erode individually responsibility slowly gets shifted to churches, communities, and eventually governments to take care of the individual. With this in mind then the health of a nation can be directly linked to how large the Federal government is and how fast it is growing. I believe local and state governments are more equipped and accountable to handle it's citizens needs than the Federal government. I am disheartened at how fast the Federal government is growing. We must be more proactive to raise up energized leadership on the local level to meet the needs of our communities. At the very least a balanced budget amendment must be passed to set the tone nationally that reckless spending patterns will not continue to be tolerated.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

I believe for one to grow as a person we must always be learning new things. I also believe that what we think about God impacts every single choice we make and how we live our lives. That is why I am currently enrolled at Emmaus Bible College and Iowa Central Community College. Part of healthy life is that whatever we are learning we must also be teaching. That is why I love to teach and mentor students at Community Christian School in Fort Dodge. I will always strive to learn and surround myself with people who know more and have the skills that I wish to have or be better at. Lastly, I have a track record of many years of public service. In order to be a good leader we must have a servant's heart. This is only possible when we humble ourselves and give our lives to the ultimate servant leader Jesus Christ. It is not hard for someone to pour their lives out for others when we realize what He has accomplished for us.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I loved serving at the Dayton Championship Rodeo. It is the 3rd largest professional rodeo in the state. I gave 100% during my 6 years of elected service and served in many different roles. I was able to cast a vision and garner widespread support to begin to make these visions a reality. Going into my last year, I had served as chairman for a couple of years and I didn't feel I was able to give 100% anymore. Due to this I stepped down and served as treasurer instead of chairman to ensure a smooth transition to the next leader. This is the same attitude I will have if elected as your state senator. People talk about term limits, you will not have to worry about that with me. If at any point in time I don't feel I am giving 100% I will step down. I do not want to look back at my life someday and think I wasted the taxpayers money, vote, and a part of my life with just a "kick the can down the road" attitude. I will be the fresh, honest bold, rural voice this state needs !

Judicial Philosophy

I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.

Strongly Disagree

Criminal Justice

Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.

Strongly Agree

2nd Amendment

Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?

Yes

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

I am a fan of education. The more education we can provide for kids and adults for gun safety and handling the better. That is the best gun safety resource we can provide, not more laws.

Other Important Issues

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Strongly Disagree

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?

1) School voucher program. Many states have some form of vouchers, there has to be a way to increase private and public partnership in education. Class sizes are too big and children are falling through the cracks. 2) Tax Reform- Slow the currently unsustainable rate of property tax increases and flatten the corporate tax bracket 3) Greater investment in quality of life projects for rural Iowans

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

I believe the media has proven it is the larger domestic security threat with this topic.
