Right to Life

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.

If the U.S. Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade, North Carolina should repeal its law allowing abortion up to 20 weeks of pregnancy.

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Abortion should be safe, legal, and rare.

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Religious Liberty

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

That the Federal Government, or any local government, shall not establish an official state religion. It also means that any form of government shall not prohibit the practicing of any religion. A community recognition of holidays should be permitted to include a public display of a menorah, Christmas tree, or manger scene. We, as Americans, are free to safely worship, or not worship, as we believe.

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

I support Medicaid. I would strengthen the investigations of those physicians and clinics who defraud and abuse the system, thus freeing money to take care of those in need.

National Security

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Strongly Agree

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

State, sheriff and local law enforcement agencies should be required to participate in the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) 287(g) Program to enhance the safety and security of their communities to identify and detain aliens.

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

We are a nation of immigrants and we welcome talented people to become American citizens. We also should accept refugees from countries where living has become unbearable and dangerous. However, immigration should be controlled, and applicants vetted. Otherwise we open ourselves to potential dangers such as terrorism. We are a nation of laws, and all those who wish to contribute, and adopt American customs and language are welcome to share in the American Dream.

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

I support allowing public high school students to participate in athletic competition based on the gender with which they identify instead of biological sex.

Parents should have the right to know what schools are teaching their children about sex and LGBT issues and should have the right to opt their children out of any instruction to which they object.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a Christian. I believe in God. I believe in the dignity of life, and an obligation to help and protect those who cannot protect or help themselves. I also believe that God can be worshiped by other religions by peoples in other parts of the world. I think that the family is the corner stone of American civilization. I accept that families can look and be different. I believe in forgiveness, as we all make mistakes.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

I am an executive with proven experience in international and domestic business, security affairs, and diplomatic negotiations. A retired career Naval Officer, my previous positions include Commanding Officer; and Director, Logistics Readiness Center (LRC) for Commander-in-Chief, US Atlantic Fleet for Operation Sea Signal. I was responsible for the rescue, housing, feeding, healthcare and security for over 50,000 Cuban and Haitian migrants at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. At the conclusion of the operation, I identified and redirected $14.3 million of a $400 budget to US Atlantic Fleet projects. In the private sector I was the Director of Contingency Operations and Africa Peacekeeping Program Manager for DynCorp International; Director, International Projects for SOC; and IAP’s Director, Global Emergency Services.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

I am an executive with proven experience in international and domestic business, security affairs, and diplomatic negotiations. I was a career Naval Officer, and worked with the Departments of State, Defense, and Justice; Foreign Governments; and Non-Governmental Organizations. I have participated in local GOP functions and have served as a Wake County precinct official for a primary and general election. I am a Penn State graduate and attended the Defense Language Institute, Monterey, CA. I hold an MA from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and an MSA from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. I am published in Ethics and Policy. My work has been used as supplemental material at UNLV, UNC-CH, and the US Merchant Marine Academy.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I have served my country both in uniform and as a civilian contractor overseas. I have two sons who are Naval Officers, one is suffering from PTSD. My wife was a Navy Nurse who served after "911" in the Global War Against Terrorism. My daughter is a trauma Nurse. My portfolio also includes the development of a specialized “Command & General Staff College” level program for the Liberian Ministry of National Defense and the Army of South Sudan. I oversaw the logistics and facilities that housed the negotiations when Southern Sudan left the Khartoum government and established a new government at Juba, South Sudan. Most recently, I interviewed and took part in the vetting process working with the Secretary of Defense’s Chief of Staff and the White House Liaison for selection as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense (DASD) for Africa Affairs. I have briefly worked in education and have coached at the high school level. I would like to continue to serve my Community, State, and Country.

Judicial Philosophy

I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.

Strongly Disagree

2nd Amendment

Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

Background checks should be extended to gun shows. But, make no mistake, fire arms used in most crimes are not purchased legally.

Other Important Issues

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?

1. Help for Veterans suffering from both combat and non-combat Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and traumatic brain injuries. There are many Veterans who suffer from sexual abuse that occurred while serving on active duty. 2. Increase in pay for teachers/educators. Our goal should be above national average pay. This enables teachers to buy a home and support a family. 3. Introduce a program to grow tradesmen through the Community College and apprenticeship programs.
