Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.
I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
In cases of rape, incest, or when the mother's life is at risk.
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?
We must protect Social Security for current retirees and ensure the solvency of the program. Congress should increase options for current workers to save for retirement in private plans.
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
This year, I voted against raising government spending caps. I support cutting unnecessary spending and funding to services that can be provided by private organizations.
Under what circumstances should taxpayers help pay off existing student loans?
Borrowers should be required to pay back their loans. United States citizens have no responsibility to pay off the loans of others, including students.
Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
The United States government may not infringe on the right to worship. Our nation was founded on Judeo-Christian values and we should continue to rely on these values for direction. This does not give any government official the right to restrict the ability of individuals to practice their faith, including in public spaces and government institutions. Instead, government officials should rely on a strong, Christian foundation to make informed decisions on behalf of the people of the United States.
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.
I support the elimination of private healthcare insurance.
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
I support a free-market approach to healthcare. Healthcare coverage should be made accessible across state lines. Private healthcare providers are capable of providing adequate, affordable, and accessible healthcare and the government should not interfere.
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?
The United States has the strongest military in the world. It is imperative that we continue to fund our military to protect our nation from terrorism. American greatness is rooted not only in our success at home but also in our strength abroad. We need to take a proactive approach to fighting terrorism, such as when President Trump took out the Iranian terrorist General Soleimani. My bill, signed into law, the Terrorist and Foreign Fighter Travel Exercise Act, helps detect and deter terrorists attempting to travel into or out of the United States. We need to remain vigilant against terrorism and continue to pass legislation that promotes a strong military and the safety of American citizens.
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) should be abolished.
State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.
Employers should be required to use E-verify to confirm the eligibility of their employees to work in the United States.
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
Individuals who wish to immigrate to the U.S. must go through our legal process. Those who do not are in the U.S. illegally. Our immigration laws, including restrictions on numbers of individuals eligible to immigrate, must be upheld. I will continue to support President Trump's efforts to build a wall along our southwest border and provide additional resources to our border agents to help stop illegal immigration.
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God who gave his life on the cross so that our sins may be forgiven. I believe the only way to reach salvation is through a personal relationship with God that is established when you ask the Lord into your heart and believe that Jesus Christ died for your sins. The Bible is the true Word of God.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
I am a lifelong conservative Republican who believes in limited government, traditional Mississippi values, free market economic principles of lower taxes and fewer regulations, the right to life of the unborn, a strong national defense with full support of our men and women in the military, and our 2nd Amendment gun rights and all of the other individual liberties guaranteed to us by the Constitution. I have a record of voting with President Trump and have been endorsed by the NRA, the National Right to Life Committee, and the Mississippi Farm Bureau.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
When I was elected to Congress in 2018, I made a commitment to the people of Mississippi that I would fight for conservatives values and support free market economic policies of lower taxes, fewer regulations and promoting our Constitutional freedoms and liberties—including the right to life of the unborn and our 2nd Amendment rights. I have worked to strengthen our agricultural community, fought for stronger border security to stop illegal immigration and drugs, and promoted efforts to secure our nation from terrorist threats. Additionally, I am a strong supporter of our men and women serving in the Armed Forces and a longtime advocate for our law enforcement officers who do the important work of providing public safety in our local communities.
Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
Gun ownership is a right granted to every U.S. citizen and proper gun safety is a responsibility. Only when a person commits a felony should this right be revoked by the United States government.
I support BDS (boycott, divestment, and sanction) against Israel if they refuse to allow the creation of a Palestinian state.
I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
The Electoral College should be abolished.
In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?
In the 116th Congress, I was the first Republican freshman to pass a bill through the House of Representatives and the second to have my bill signed into law. My legislation, "The Terrorist and Foreign Fighter Travel Exercise Act” promotes the identification and determent of terrorist travel. I will continue to support legislation that protects our nation, I will support efforts to secure our southern border, and I will work to promote our economy through free-market economic principles.
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Any hatred based on the color of another person's skin, religion, nationality, or creed is unacceptable. As a society, we must not focus on our perceived differences and instead highlight our shared values. Recent attacks on synagogues and churches is very disturbing and we must do more to protect our places of worship. I support training and arming members of the church to stop domestic terrorism.
