Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.
I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
Only if it endangers the life of the mother and rape. This should also be required before a heartbeat.
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?
Additional investments into the fund to make up for the longer life span and more people retiring than are entering the workforce are needed. By cutting spending in other areas (foreign aid for one) and getting the deficit under control, the US would be able to add to the Social Security fund rather than paying interest to other nations.
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
I would begin with foreign aid to countries that seek our destruction. Reduce the number of agencies that have overlapping responsibilities. While the Arts are important I don't know why we give so much to places like the Kennedy Center that also receive private donations and have millions in reserve. Balancing the Budget will require some hard choices and will be unpopular but is very necessary for the future of our Nation.
Under what circumstances should taxpayers help pay off existing student loans?
None. We all make choices and must abide by them. There should be "truth in lending" legislation applicable to the institutions that would educate the students as to the legitimate job prospects in their chosen field of study. We must increase the availability to "trade" schools and vocational training for our youth to give them the tools needed to compete for jobs in an increasingly global economy.
Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
Our nation was founded on Judeo Christian beliefs. While the Constitution is very clear concerning freedom of religion, we must not exclude "faith" and the teachings we have received (I don't know of any of the 10 commandments that are "bad"). The government should "temper" its secular legislation with the "moral" compass provided by the wisdom of the Church.
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.
I support the elimination of private healthcare insurance.
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
The very best way to provide heath care coverage to people is to provide JOBS that will have benefits. A Strong economy is needed not only to provide this insurance through employers but also to increase the tax revenues to provide for those individuals not able to work. A one size fits all plan will not work, it must be a diverse and flexible solution to be able to give the best coverage at an affordable rate. Free competition will always give a better product than a strictly regulated one. We must cut the regulations that hold back companies from innovations and competition. At the end of the day, with more people on private insurance the better, it will free up the resources needed to provide for those in need.
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?
In depth background investigations into anyone requesting immigration as well as restricting access to sensitive areas such as our military bases and flight schools. Both of these institutions were used to commit acts of terror.
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) should be abolished.
State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.
Employers should be required to use E-verify to confirm the eligibility of their employees to work in the United States.
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
America needs people of character and education, people who will innovate and contribute to the advancement of our nation. This must be tempered with the economic needs at the time of entry, as well as keeping security of the nation in mind. Entry should be tied to the "unemployment rate" for the individual vocations as well as forecasting future needs. Those individuals seeking immigration should be from countries that have similar values (Sharia Law is incompatible with western culture) and would embrace the "American" way of life (respectful of others equality and rights). Restricting those from counties that are adversarial and wish to do us harm (Iran and others), only accepting those who are being persecuted (such as fleeing Christians).
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am Baptist and am conservative in values. I believe traditional Christian values are what have given us the foundation necessary to become the great nation we have become. It breaks my heart to see the erosion of these values and the breakdown of the family unit. I truly believe the lack of Fathers and good role models have led us to the rising lawlessness and violence we are seeing today. People have moved away from our Christian teachings and are becoming lost to us, the chaos and anarchy are becoming the norm. America was wrong to remove prayer from schools and now we pay the price.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
Please see my personal Facebook or Candidate page Greg Musselwhite for Congress as well as my Twitter @GregMusselwhit3 Musselwhite For Congress. You will get a sense of what I believe in as well as a lot of fishing pictures...
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
I have traveled and worked all across this nation and this has enabled me to see first hand how other communities govern and deal with problems. My experience on large construction projects that require professionalism as well as results (businesses like to make a profit) have given me an opportunity to show my work ethic as well as decision making process to enable the projects to succeed. Many will agree that our Government should be run more like a business, rooting out waste and corruption. I want to bring that experience and knowledge to Congress and work to enable the people of Florida to prosper. Together with the help of local and state officials we can tailor legislation to ensure a bright future for everyone in our district and south Florida.
Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
I believe more gun ownership is needed. Criminals will always find a way around the law. Make gun safety courses more available and cheaper to the public and enable them to protect themselves. Background checks for known violent criminals should be enhanced and encouraged, don't make it easier for the criminals, but do not make it harder for law abiding citizens either.
I support BDS (boycott, divestment, and sanction) against Israel if they refuse to allow the creation of a Palestinian state.
I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
The Electoral College should be abolished.
In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?
1. Secure borders for a Sovereign Nation, we must finish a quality physical barrier (Wall) complete with sufficient staff (Border agents) and surveillance equipment. A comprehensive system of security for the safety of our nation. 2. True Immigration reform, we MUST evaluate (count) how many "undocumented / illegal" immigrants are in the US. Only when we know the scope of the problem can we begin to talk about a remedy. The additional burden to taxpayers in every aspect of American life are affected (healthcare facilities, schools, jobs, housing, etc.) We must also close any loopholes in the asylum application legislation while maintaining the ability for those who actually need protection to find it. Reevaluate the number of legal entries allowed. 3. The Economy, we need to bring the mid to high paying manufacturing jobs back to South Florida. Covid-19 all but shut down our local economy and has shown us we need to diversify our market here.
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Racism is a threat to the safety of our nation. Recent events in Minnesota and Seattle have proven the underlying rage in our population. Certain factions wish to perpetuate the division highlighting our differences rather than what we all have in common. We are all Americans first. We all bleed Red regardless of the color of our skin. We each have our own heritage and our own cultures. We all have the right to stand up for what we believe in. Be respectful of beliefs that differ from you own. Drop the labels used to keep us divided! Be inclusive, "Love thy neighbor" for who they are. Respect the melting pot of cultures we call the United States of America. The rioting cannot in any way be justified, innocent people are becoming victims to the "self fulfilling prophecy" of "systemic" racism. As a nation America is the least racist in the world, but a few bad people do exist.
