Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Strongly Agree
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.
Strongly Agree
I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.
Strongly Agree
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
In cases of rape, incest and to save the life of the mother
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.
Strongly Disagree
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Strongly Agree
How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?
Social Security is a contract between seniors and the federal government. The promises that were made must be kept. I have always voted to ensure that no changes are made to those at or near retirement. For younger Americans, we should allow them other savings options, while also fulfilling commitments to those on Social Security.
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
We must pass the Balanced Budget Constitutional Amendment. Pro-growth economic policies will bring in additional tax revenue but spending must also be cut. I have voted against every budget busting budget deal that Congress has come up with. K-12 education is a state responsibility and we should let the states fund it. Reduce the number of federal employees will also curb over-regulation. Restoring the amendment process in Congress will allow cost cutting amendments to come for a vote
Under what circumstances should taxpayers help pay off existing student loans?
Simply paying off or forgiving student loans fails to address the core issue: Universities that have no regard for what they charge students. When the federal government has made it easier for students to borrow more money it has simply led them deeper into debt. Colleges need to get back to basics, end the gold plated facilities and amenities that are simply added onto the student’s charges. Loan forgiveness must be tied to employment, payment of taxes and loan obligations.
Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.
Yes
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
Separation of Church and State is not a law, it’s a policy that has too often been applied and misapplied. I believe everyone of faith should be allowed to freely exercise that right without the infringement of the state or federal government. Today, some states and the federal government to some degree is actively engaging in policies that seek to silence the voice of faith and those with deeply held conservative convictions. Some states (Calif, New York) are working to force doctors and nurses to violate their pro-life convictions in order to keep their jobs. Traditional family adoption agencies are being denied a license in some states to offer adoption services. I am working to protect their rights.
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.
Strongly Disagree
I support the elimination of private healthcare insurance.
Strongly Disagree
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
The best way to lower the cost of health care is choice and transparency, not mandates. I voted against Obamacare and it must be repealed. We must allow the sale of health insurance across state lines, expand Health Savings Accounts, allow Associations to form groups to bulk purchase insurance for their members, enable people to take insurance from job to job, fix tax laws to treat Medical Sharing Ministries fairly, and allow all Americans to deduct the cost of their medical premiums and expenses. I support community health centers which provide affordable care in 1,400 clinics across the nation. And, we can do this while ensuring that those with pre-existing conditions are not denied care and that insurance companies are not allowed drop people when they get sick.
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?
I have worked closely with the two most significant organizations combating radical Islam, Act for America and the Center for Security Policy. I voted to support President Trump’s executive order to suspend the refugee program for those coming from countries known to be hotbeds of terrorism-Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Somalia and Yemen. In July 2016, I was an original cosponsor of H.R. 5816, suspending President Obama’s resettlement program. This bill became the basis for Trumps’ executive order. We should ban the funneling of money to U.S. college campuses from Saudi and similar sovereign wealth funds that promote the radicalization of Muslims on U.S. college campuses and we should ban foreign college students and Muslim clerics who have extremist views.
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) should be abolished.

State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.
Strongly Agree
Employers should be required to use E-verify to confirm the eligibility of their employees to work in the United States.

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
When it comes to Immigration reform, I am one of only two Members of the Florida delegation that has an A+ rating from NumbersUSA - the leading organization challenging our out-of-control immigration system. I oppose granting amnesty to illegal immigrants. I have introduced legislation to terminate the Visa Lottery program that gives out over 50,000 visas a year in a world-wide lottery. Each of these new immigrants is then able to sponsor additional immigrants to come into the US. That is why I have also cosponsor the Nuclear Family Act which allow new immigrants to the US to only sponsor a spouse or minor children. We need to give these new immigrants time to assimilate into the US, and not overwhelm our system. We are a welcoming nation and we will continue to be, but today it is out of control.
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a Christian and have been married to my high school sweetheart, Katie for fifty years. We have both taken on leadership roles in our church over the years. My faith helps guide my strong sense of right and wrong especially when it comes to public service in terms of how you treat others and belief in accountability in public life and private life. Before my kids headed to college, a number of people in the community asked me to consider running for the Florida legislature or U.S. Congress. I told them no, I would not do that for several reasons. First, I love my kids and wanted to be there for them, for the games, their school events, at home and at church on Sundays. My wife Katie and I do most things together - we always have - and I would never be in Tallahassee or Washington DC without my wife Katie by my side. In Congress I have set up tours of the Capitol for new Members with famed historian David Barton of Wall Builders.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Very Conservative
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
The values in my personal life are lived out in my public life. Pro-Family: I am a leading advocate for life in the Congress and have a 100% pro-life voting record, but beyond voting I am actively engaged in sponsoring pro-life legislation, urging federal agencies to advance life and protecting medical professionals who have pro-life convictions. I have earned the True Blue award from FRC for my Congressional work in support of pro-family legislation. Foreign Affairs: I’m a strong supporter of our alliances with Israel - the only democracy in the Middle East - and am actively opposing the anti-Israel Boycott (BDS) movement. I opposed Obama’s policies to put U.S. troops in harms way by intervening in Libya, Yemen and Syria. Economic: I am a member of the House Freedom Caucus which is the core of conservative economic policy - less regulation, lower taxes, and fewer mandates on individuals and employers. CAGW and FreedomWorks gave me high ratings for votes on economic freedom.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
No and No.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
Accountability and transparency in Congress are two things that drive everything I do. Two major changes in the Congress are in place because of my efforts. One of my first initiatives was legislation giving the public and Members of Congress at least 72 hours to read legislation before it is voted on. This is now a law. No more, “You’ve got to pass it to find out what is in it.” I also introduced legislation to make legislation easier for the public and members to read through “comparative print.” No more last minute adding a comma, or change a “do not” to a “do” without the public noticing. This is now law and is being implemented. I’ve got some additional “drain the swamp” initiatives that I’m fighting for: ending the revolving door between lobbying and Congress for Members and staff; disclosure of foreign investments by relatives of Members of Congress; and banning former Members of Congress from lobbying for foreign governments among other initiatives.
Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.
Strongly Agree
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
I am a strong supporter of the Second Amendment and have always been endorsed by the National Rifle Association. I have consistently voted against gun control legislation in the U.S. Congress and when I served in the State legislature. There are over 20,000 gun laws in place across all levels of government. The problem is not with the Second Amendment, but the problem is that there has been a refusal to enforce the laws on the books. Criminals don’t follow gun laws and they never will.
I support BDS (boycott, divestment, and sanction) against Israel if they refuse to allow the creation of a Palestinian state.
Strongly Disagree
I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Strongly Disagree
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
Strongly Disagree
The Electoral College should be abolished.

In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?
I have passed over 20 of my legislative initiatives into law to supporting our nations space program and commercial space efforts, restore our national estuaries, streamline tax filing for senior citizens, protect victims of terrorism, scrutinize foreign investment in our critical infrastructure and honor our veterans to name a few. I have also passed reforms to make Congress more transparent and accountable and I will continue to propose common sense solutions to our nation’s problems.
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
I do not believe Americans are inherently a racist people. Racism exists in various forms all over the world but we have made real strides in the United States to overcome it.
