Right to Life

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Agree

I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

I am passionately pro-life. I believe the only acceptable exception is if the life of the mother is in grave danger.

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Strongly Disagree

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?

Step one: Stop robing the trust fund. Step two: Mandate the repayment of all previous trust fund raids.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

I believe that all parts of the Federal budget are bloated beyond control. It could sustain an across the board reduction in budget without reflecting any difference in services. I would specifically look at foreign aid, multi-national organizations and wasteful discretionary spending. Every year we add more and more pork to the budget without evaluating the actual necessity of these line items.

Under what circumstances should taxpayers help pay off existing student loans?

The only situation where this is acceptable is where students have sought out targeted and much needed career paths and agreed or agreed to work in high-demand communities. This should be treated like the GI Bill and will provide vast results for our nation.

Religious Liberty

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

This clause in the Constitution was created to protect individuals from the overreach of government. It was not however, designed to eliminate the influence of religion in government.

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.

Strongly Disagree

I support the elimination of private healthcare insurance.

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

As a note, any plan that is put forward for healthcare should not force abortion payments or coverage. Also, low income families desperately need options other than medicaid, as this consists of typically abysmal care. Finally, we need to offer supplemental plans for seniors and better control the costs of medical care. Some of the ways that we can accomplish this is by: - Making tele-health more accessible - Lowering prescription costs by applying pressure on the cost of drugs, specifically generics - Increasing transparency in medical billing and pricing - Demanding competition by allowing plans to be sold across state lines

National Security

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Strongly Agree

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?

In order to eradicate the threat America needs to first recognize that we will always be under attack by radical Islamic fundamentalists. We must: - Maintain a heavily armed citizenry. - Take the fight to them overseas. - Intensify the spread of the Christian faith throughout the Arabic speaking world.

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Agree

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.

Employers should be required to use E-verify to confirm the eligibility of their employees to work in the United States.

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

As a christian it is my opinion that people should have the right to migrate to protect and provide for their families. The following people should be granted access, on an individual basis, to the United States: - Political and Economic Refugees (provided they can be properly vetted) - Legal Immigrants who go through the proper channels to enter the United States - Students and workers who qualify for visas (exit dates MUST be accurately enforced)

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I was raised by my parents who insisted upon church visits since the day I was born. They were my Sunday school teachers and choir directors in my local Nazarene Church. As a believer we believe in one god and that is the father, the son and the Holy Spirit. We believe speaking about spirituality is a necessary act in one's daily life. Part of our core values are Jesus Christ is Lord, we have a Holy Spirit, do mission work and worship regular. Spirituality, to me, is about my relationship with Christ. I believe we go ye into the world and share because we must reinforce the values to teach, love and encourage.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

Amy Pope Wells is a wife, mother, grandmother and local business owner. I have been actively helping those in need and the community for many years. Our country is on fire right now, people are suffering and I can help. I cannot sit any longer and watch what is happening. Congressional District 3 is very important to me and I will fight to protect it and our values.

Criminal Justice

Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.

2nd Amendment

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

I believe that we should, with due process, limit access to guns for individuals deemed to be a danger to themselves or other. Furthermore, we should restrict gun ownership by felons.

Other Important Issues

I support BDS (boycott, divestment, and sanction) against Israel if they refuse to allow the creation of a Palestinian state.

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?

1. Balanced Budget Amendment 2. Comprehensive Merit-Based Immigration Reform and Border Security 3. Reduction of Taxes and Business Regulations to Create Middle-class Jobs

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

No, racism is not an implicit threat. The threat, however, does come from the violence, theft, lawlessness, and general disorder that has resulted from the tragic situation involving George Floyd.
