Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.
I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
I don't understand why abortions continue to be such a hot issue, when contraceptive methods have been readily available since the early 1970s. Aren't people using contraception--or abstinence--if they don't want pregnancies? In cases of imminent harm to the mother's life, abortion seems humane. Otherwise, I have trouble thinking of any unborn person as dispensable. As a Biologist, I understand that a unique individual is formed when 2 strands of RNA (one from each parent) combine during conception to form 1 strand of DNA. That DNA is specific to the new individual that will grow from that fertilized egg. That's when a new life begins.
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
I prefer limited government. I think we have allowed local, state and federal governments to grow larger than they need to be. Regulations are burdensome. I also think budgets should be evaluated for waste, and managers should be encouraged to find ways to spend LESS money each year, rather than being incentivized to justify automatic budget renewals. Line item vetoes are a good practice.
Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
It means that people are not discriminated against for their religious views, and governments are not run by powerful churches.
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
I liked the old model of employer-sponsored healthcare for most (which used to encourage people to get jobs). I would add a safety net for people who are not working, but with incentives for them to find employment.
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
I'm all for LEGAL immigration! My father was born in the US to German immigrants, making me a 2nd generation American on that side of the family. I don't agree with illegal immigration. We have allowed it to go on too long. Even temporary workers need some kind of identification, so that taxpayers don't end up supporting unknown people who are not helping themselves.
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I was raised in the United Methodist Church. I sang in the Church choir as a teenager. My faith became more important to me when my father died (I was 28), followed by my mother's death (I was 34), my best friend's death (I was 38), and the birth of my 2 children, insterspersed with 2 devastating miscarriages. When my husband died, I knew that God was still watching out for me. Even though I wasn't seeking Jesus, He found me and helped me keep going. I am so grateful.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
4 above. It is none of my business what others do in their private lives. 5 & 6 above. Some severely disabled people need public assistance. 10 above. I'm OK with public funding for low-income patients receiving women's health care excluding abortions. 17. I don't know why government needs to address this. 18. This could be quite gruesome, if baby is badly injured. I am honest and earnest. Even my pastor told me I behaved with higher integrity than he would have in a difficult situation. I just want to make life better in Washington state, and use our Public Lands to earn school revenues, while also taking good care of the environment. I would appreciate your vote!
I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.
Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.
Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
We need better mental health services, and the ability for families to get professional help for loved ones acting unstable. I support the 2nd amendment, and I am in favor of gun registration to help track guns used in crimes.
People should be able to vote without photo identification.
I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.
The Electoral College should be abolished.
In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?
Allow increased, responsible timber harvests on public lands, to support public schools, as directed in WA state constitution, Article 9. Smart logging will also decrease disease and crowding in our forests, leading to better wildfire management. Propose modifications to the Endangered Species Act, to account for population dynamics (interspecies effects) and also severe economic impacts resulting from Habitat Conservation Plans. Increased salmon hatchery production, to support Orca whale populations and fishing fleets, and to take pressure off dam removal proposals.
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Good heavens, yes! I am writing this after a week of incredibly destructive behavior in cities across our nation. I can't believe what I'm seeing. I don't really know the full answer, except during times like these, I'd like to see a quicker response to violence, and the main instigators to violence apprehended.
