Questionnaire

Please note: Responses are entered electronically by the candidate and are listed verbatim.

Right to Life

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Agree

I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.

Strongly Agree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Only as a lifesaving option to the mother.

Economy

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Disagree

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

I believe that we cannot keep bailing out this country during the Covid outbreak. The people that truly need are not receiving it. Conversely we cannot keep giving credits to the millionaire of this county despite however hard they have worked for it. We need to be a country where each person is worthy of the work they put in, There should not be entitlement of the privileged few. Government must live within its budget that it sets and cannot use taxpayer as the safety net.

Religious Liberty

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

Agree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.

Yes

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

Simply, that government does not use mechanism to dominate the church and its livelihood. Conversely, the church does not seek to manipulate government. Yet, I feel that the church cannot hide from it's responsibility to preserve life, to stand against injustice both domestically and abroad, to give aid to the orphan and widows, and other social justice. The church and state must live within their own spheres but also work together for the good of the people.

Healthcare

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.

Disagree

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

in the past three years starting in 2016 one week after my 50th birthday, I experienced a heart attack. Subsequently, I would suffer a small stroke rendering my left leg immobile. i would spend another 20 days in the hospital where I would undergo physical therapy to re-learn how to walk. I would spend 44 days in the hospital. Due to untreated and uncontrolled diabetes I would loose 5 toes on my left leg and a below the knee amputation on the right leg. I have been fortunate to have insurance but many people experience catastrophic medical treatment and they hav little to no insurance. There is no safety net for them to receive additional help. Leaving many people frustrated with mounting debt leading to bankruptcy and even worse homelessness. We need to work where all entities are able to survive. insurance companies, medical personnel and more importantly the patient. We must improve on the ACA as this was not a cure all for everything.

National Security

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Strongly Agree

Immigration

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Agree

State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.

Agree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

Men, women and children who come to this country legally. The ease of a cross border should does not mean one should be granted citizenship. Citizenships by any other means is a slap to the face of many of those who become US Naturalized Citizens, who have paid the price of time, talent and treasure. Ask any US Naturalized Citizen how they feel about their citizenship and they will tell you that they treasure that new document, they are grateful for those men and women who gave their time, grateful to the families who lost their lives ones. Immigration on the other hand should be more expedient to those who wish to live productive lives. Those who are found to be a domestic threat should be expelled immediately.

Education

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Agree

Values

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Agree

I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Agree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

Being raised in a Christian home all my life, attending a Christian middle school, and serving as a youth /music pastor for 30 years has pretty much set me fir a oath of being a believer. I believe though that the best way to affect change is to be in the middle of what is happening. Our schools, neighborhood associations, local chapter of the Republican Party and so forth simply being a servant- leader. This pathway has given me first hand knowledge on how many things work in the public setting. I hope that these non profit boards that I have sat on has shaped me to serve in they new capacity as a House of Representative republican.

Qualifications

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

I am conservative in fiscal, law, spiritual, and life in general.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

I have had course work in most college courses and some seminary (Western Seminary-Portland, OR) most of my life's education has been experiential. I have served on staff for the past 30 years in ministry - music and youth.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I have dedicated the past twenty three years in my community to the service of of it citizens, teachers, my neighbors and kids have benefited from my being an integral part of the community. I have sought to better myself, placed myself accountable and responsible to my fellow board members, and more importantly live out my faith amongst those I live with. It would be a honor to take this next step in leadership and service.

Judicial Philosophy

I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.

Strongly Disagree

Criminal Justice

Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.

Strongly Agree

2nd Amendment

Should teachers be allowed to carry guns at school?

Yes

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

I believe that gun ownership should not be restricted to the law abiding citizen. Those that are in possession of a gun who are felons and predisposed to crime should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

Other Important Issues

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Agree

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Disagree

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?

Education- I believe that education options are the choice of parents. We should encourage charter schools, home schooling and online learning. The state is responsible in for ensuring that each child receive a quality education. Families that choose an alternative education choice should be able to receive a voucher. Taxation- Washington State has one of the highest tax collections in the state. This has occurred due to a Democratic House, Senate and Executive branch. These taxes have been paying for transportation projects with cost overruns, unions that demand more salaries and benefits, and special interest projects created by Democrats. I would fight to be fiscally responsible to the citizens of Washington State and live within our means. Homelessness- Homelessness, is the loss of hope. We have to stop throwing money at this dilemma. It demands that we look for alternatives which provides hope for people who are without homes.

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Racism is a threat to our very fabric of what is good and decent Until we examine ourselves and determine that many of our own prejudices are unhealthy we cannot adequately deal with the racially divide in this country. Far too many times the ruling or majority class of people offer platitudes of empathy only as a reaction to the embarrassment of who we are as a society. Until we've entered into that time of self examination & repentance than can we offer up reconciliation. We then can move as a community to stand against hatred and root out this evil.
