Right to Life

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Agree

I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.

Strongly Agree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Life of the mother.

Economy

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Strongly Disagree

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?

I support over time increasing the retirement age and gradually moving young Americans into a self administered retirement account(401K type accounts).

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

I have a three part test. First, is it a proper role of government? Second, are they doing a good job? Third, do they really need more money. Most of what government funds doesn't pass the first test. I do not support funding Planned Parenthood.

Under what circumstances should taxpayers help pay off existing student loans?

None

Religious Liberty

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.

Yes

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

The US Constitution is pretty clear on this - 1st Amendment - Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; Keep the government out of the affairs of the church.

Healthcare

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.

Strongly Disagree

I support the elimination of private healthcare insurance.

Strongly Disagree

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

I would support freeing the private sector of government coverage mandates allowing companies the flexibility to offer the coverage needed by their customers. I would support much more transparency from healthcare providers so individuals as consumers could be more empowered either with their own dollars or through health savings accounts to spend their money effectively.

National Security

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Strongly Agree

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?

Strong borders, intensive screening of international travelers, insure a strong Israel, Keep the military pressure on middle eastern countries to fight radical Islamic terrorism in their countries - assist militarily where it can be strategic and precise. encourage Christian missionaries to evangelize Islamic regions of the world.

Immigration

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Agree

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.

Strongly Agree

Employers should be required to use E-verify to confirm the eligibility of their employees to work in the United States.

Strongly Agree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

The demographics of America are changing rapidly with a large number of the Baby Boom generation retiring in the next decade or two. Insuring there are qualified individuals to fill key positions in our economy is critical. This should be one of the key factors governing who is granted immigration status or not. America should be careful to screen immigrants coming to America to insure they have jobs. I would work closely with American enterprise to insure immigrants contribute economically. Anyone who comes to our country through legal means.

Education

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Disagree

Values

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

Strongly Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I believe Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. He is God's Son. He is 100% God and 100% Man. Jesus' death on the cross and resurrection - paid for the sins of all who believe in Him and is the only path to reconciliation with God. I believe in the inerrancy of Scripture, that the Bible, Old and New Testaments, is the inspired, inerrant, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. I believe in the Trinity - Father, Son and Holy Spirit. I believe my public service is certainly rooted in my Christian faith and believe that as Christians we are to be salt and light in this world. My perspective on public policy is also impacted by my Christian faith believing that God's places men and women in places of influence to positively affect public policy and ultimately point the public toward God. Joseph and Daniel are both examples of men of faith playing important public roles in society.

Qualifications

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

I have a 14 year voting record in the Oregon Legislature that backs that up. I never voted for a tax increase - I'm a fiscal conservative. I have a 100% voting record fighting for the unborn. I have consistently fought for our 2nd Amendment rights which has lead to an A+ rating with the NRA. I consistently voted to support homeschool families, sponsoring and voting for major pro-homeschool legislation. I fought for Oregon's Defense of Marriage Constitutional amendment. I vigorously opposed providing driver's licenses and in-state tuition for individuals in Oregon without legal presence documents. I led Oregon Legislature's Sister State relationships with the Kurdistan Regional Government. I recruited and mentored young men and women through my office to write, think and lead as the next generation of conservative leaders - this is critical to the long term success of the conservative movement. This is a practice I will continue as Oregon's next Republican Congressman.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I believe in public service. I believe it is an honorable calling. I have devoted most of my life to public service to my God, my family and my country.

Criminal Justice

Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.

Strongly Agree

2nd Amendment

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

Only restrictions I would support are for felons and those with mental health challenges.

Other Important Issues

I support BDS (boycott, divestment, and sanction) against Israel if they refuse to allow the creation of a Palestinian state.

Strongly Disagree

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

No Answer

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Strongly Disagree

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?

Forest policy must be addressed to allow for sustained harvest and proper stewardship of our national forests. Tax policy that grows our economy. Focus on our veterans, physical and mental health - we must take care of the men and women who have served in uniform protecting our country. Ensure America is prepared for the next world pandemic, learning lessons from COVID-19 Address America's debt by supporting a balanced budget amendment.

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Yes, it's a problem. It is rooted in poverty. Under poverty, there is a lack of hope. As a Christian, I believe that Jesus came to provide hope. One of the examples in the Bible is the parable of the Good Samaritan. I have a record of working to heal generational racism aimed toward native American communities.
