Right to Life

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Agree

I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.

Strongly Agree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

I believe that life begins at conception and all life is sacred.

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Strongly Disagree

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?

First of all, we should make no changes to those at or near retirement age. Those are benefits that have been earned and should not be messed with. However, the program is going broke and for future generations we need to look at small changes to ensure that Social Security can continue to exist for them. Those should include slowly increasing the retirement age by two years (2 months per year over a period of 12 years) and instituting means testing for extremely high income individuals.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

The federal government is involved in way too many things. When I became State Treasurer, I looked at my budget across the board and found ways to be more efficient with taxpayer dollars, allowing us to reduce our overall spending. I’d like to take the same approach to the federal budget, but at a minimum, we should end all funding that goes to abortion providers like Planned Parenthood.

Under what circumstances should taxpayers help pay off existing student loans?

Rural communities like many of those in the Second District of Kansas struggle to find doctors to serve their communities in part due to lower salaries offered there. A reduction in student loans in conjunction with willingness to serve rural communities for an extended period of time is a good trade off.

Religious Liberty

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

God has not been indifferent towards the people in America, and we should not be indifferent to him. I will stand up against the secular progressives that are trying to drive God out of the town square.

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.

Strongly Disagree

I support the elimination of private healthcare insurance.

Strongly Disagree

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

Allow the states to make healthcare solutions that tailor-fit their needs. Allow the states to regulate the industry, encourage competition across state lines, and support coverage of pre-existing conditions.

National Security

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Strongly Agree

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?

We have to have a strong military. We have to disrupt terrorist organizations and fight them where they live and plan. We must sanction governments that sponsor terrorism.

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Agree

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.

Strongly Agree

Employers should be required to use E-verify to confirm the eligibility of their employees to work in the United States.

Strongly Agree

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

I support people coming to our country through our legal immigration process, that includes learning about what makes our country unique and special.

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Disagree

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a Catholic. My faith is foundational to my life and central to the way my wife and I raise our four children.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

My campaign website lists my conservative principles in my Contract with Kansas. It can be found at

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I am a proud father of four and have an amazing wife.  I work to live my daily life with integrity as I would want my children to live theirs. I would be honored to have your support in this election.

Criminal Justice

Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.

Strongly Agree

2nd Amendment

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

The second amendment is a foundational right in our constitution. I believe the right to protect yourself and defend your family was created by God.

Other Important Issues

I support BDS (boycott, divestment, and sanction) against Israel if they refuse to allow the creation of a Palestinian state.

Strongly Disagree

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Strongly Disagree

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Strongly Disagree

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?

1. Fight for Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. Liberals are working to reshape our culture. In Congress, I will only vote for legislation that I am 100% confident will protect the unborn, our right to practice our faith freely, and the 2nd Amendment. 2. Build the Wall. The safety and security of our nation will be among my top priorities and our men and women in uniform will have my total support. Like President Reagan, I support a “Peace Through Strength” approach to national defense. Protecting American interests abroad and at our borders is critical to a free and prosperous society. 3. Co-Sponsor Constitutional Amendment for Term Limits My first official action as Congressman will be to co-sponsor legislation implanting a constitutional amendment imposing term limits on members of Congress. The challenges we face as a nation will not be tackled if politicians are only focused on the next election.

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

America has had a long and rocky relationship with race relations. We have obviously made tremendous progress over the generations, but there is still much work to be done. Criminal justice reform is one important aspect of this. By taking small steps we can address some of the reasons that minorities are disproportionately targeted by our criminal justice system. However, movements like “Defund the Police” are misguided and not productive toward moving our nation forward.
