Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.
I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
I am pro-life. I believe that every human life is a precious gift from God. I am also a realist. I know that the United States has long established law regarding this issue, and that our country is very divided regarding abortion. That said, I will never agree to the use of public funding for abortion. Further, I will always advocate for other methods of birth control, including abstinence. I will always support the option for adoption, and I will always strive to educate and advocate for abortion as a last resort, and only in rare circumstances. We must learn to be responsible, thoughtful, and moral in our choices where human life is concerned.
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?
Social Security is unsustainable in its current structure. Currently, most average households of two adult workers have a 1.23% average return on their Social Security Contributions. We need to look at all options which allow workers to continue to receive benefits, but workers need to have the option of investing a portion of their contributions in safe plans which provide a larger return than the government can provide.
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
Reducing the Federal deficit and national debt is a major priority for me during my fist term. I will vote for and help move legislation for a Balanced Budget Amendment. I will also introduce a bill seeking to channel all Federal business tax revenue collected from Legalized Marijuana sales in 11 states to reduce the National debt. Further, I will look to eliminate wasteful spending and fraud against the government before any cuts to major programs.
Under what circumstances should taxpayers help pay off existing student loans?
The student loan is the responsibility of the individual who received it. There are, however incentives for individuals to invest their career into certain under-served areas of their communities. Teachers, for example, can have a portion of their loans forgiven if they choose to serve in critical areas or under-served locations. I'm ok with that. I would be willing to look at other incentives for those who work in community service fields such as police officers, teachers, and fire fighters
Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
Nowhere in any of our Founding Documents will you find the words, "Separation of Church and State." Thomas Jefferson coined this phrase in a letter. Our Constitution's 1st Amendment states, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof... My interpretation of this is that Congress, our Government, shall not choose one religion over another, and will not take any action to prevent the people from freely exercising their own religions. It does NOT say that government will have a "hands off" approach to religion in general...Children should be able to have prayer groups in schools, Muslim students can be excused from class to go pray, and it means that government CAN use taxpayer dollars for school choice, as long as it does not favor one school over another.
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.
I support the elimination of private healthcare insurance.
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
In the United States, people have access to many avenues for Healthcare Coverage. There are very good private plans, group plans through employers, and plans available through our State and Federal Governments for the Disabled, Retired, and for those in Poverty. Each person should be able to select their healthcare based on their needs and the needs of their family members. Accessibility is not the issue. Affordability is the problem. Competition and price transparency are the key to reducing the cost of healthcare. I support President Trump's Price Transparency Rule. Further, Non-Profit Hospital Corporations pay no Federal and State Taxes. I would like to see more scrutiny of these “non-profits”. They should be reinvesting their tax savings directly back into lowering the cost of care at their facilites, not expanding business and paying executives huge salaries.
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?
We need to secure our borders, our ports of entry, and our immigration system as a whole. Extremists are trying to infiltrate our society and our government. I support President Trump's Extreme Vetting initiatives. People who come to this country and seek citizenship here must support our laws, our Constitution, our Flag, and our way of life. We need to remove our troops from Middle Eastern counties who do not share our values and do not want us there. Our presence only aggravates and provokes the jihadists. Protect and secure our Homeland.
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) should be abolished.
State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.
Employers should be required to use E-verify to confirm the eligibility of their employees to work in the United States.
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
Anyone should be allowed to apply to immigrate to the United States provided they are properly vetted, are able to obtain meaningful employment, are self sustaining, and pledge their oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States.
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I am a Christian. I believe Jesus Christ died on the cross for my sins and he is my savior. Our country was established with Judeo Christian values. Our morality, and our laws are based on these beliefs. Our motto is of course, "In God we Trust". I hope that we can reestablish morality in this nation. I will work with all religious groups and community organizations to help rebuild morality in our communities. We need to educate right from wrong through our Churches, our Synagogues, our Mosques, our families, and our Communities; and we must find common ground so that we can all live in peace to pursue life, liberty and happiness
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
My website, Facebook page, Press releases, and my YouTube page all have information ranging from support for 2nd Amendment and Pro Life to Legalization of Marijuana. I am for Public Schools and for School Choice both. www.balesforcongress.com www.facebook.com/ABalesforCongress
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
In this age of big campaign money, I believe it is more important than ever to look at a candidates character, their message, and their sincerity to Act on what they say. Public service is about those we serve. We MUST be faithful to the needs, wants, and beliefs of our constituents over our own wants and needs. This is why I am endorsing Term Limits for Congress. I believe there are too many politicians who no longer represent their constituents, but rather, they represent those big money donors who keep them well funded. Actions speak louder than words, and they must speak louder than money.
Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
NO further restrictions should be placed on lawful gun ownership. Restricting ownership of law abiding citizens makes this country less safe. Instead we should focus on rooting out gang activity, cooperation between law enforcement agencies to remove violent criminals from our streets, and we should better address mental health issues in our communities.
I support BDS (boycott, divestment, and sanction) against Israel if they refuse to allow the creation of a Palestinian state.
I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
The Electoral College should be abolished.
In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?
Balanced Budget Amendment Remove Cannabis as a Schedule 1 Drug Term Limits for Congress NOTE: I won't be stopping at three.
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
I don't believe there is a thing called Institutional Racism in America. Yes there are still individuals and groups who are in fact, racist. Racism comes from all walks of life as well, not just from one majority group to another minority group. It flows both directions. Nor do I believe racism is as rampant as our National media would like us to believe. Every Republican Candidate for President since I can remember into the 80's has been called a racist from the other side of the aisle. I don't believe that for a minute. It has become cliche and unfortunately it's like the boy who cried wolf; if everything becomes racist, how will we truly know when something REALLy is? I deplore racism and I will not associate in any way with those who are. We should absolutely denounce racism in this country. There is no room for it. But, I do not believe it is a threat to domestic security.
