Right to Life

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Agree

I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.

Strongly Agree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

I do not support abortions with a few exceptions. I believe that a women who has been raped, forced into sex trafficking, has been a victim of incest, or in the unfortunate occurrence in which the mother's life is threatened by the continuation of the pregnancy should have the option to have an abortion performed.

Economy

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.

Disagree

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?

Socialism doesn’t work and ‘Social’ Security is a prime example of those failing ideologies. Tough solutions are needed now. We need a 'transitional plan' that would lead us into a new retirement infrastructure. 1) End Social Security through a multi-layered grandfathering percentage approach by ‘generation’ from when Social Security was first enacted. 2) Counter balance the generational approach so that those who will be receiving partial Social Security benefits will be allowed for their retirement to be subsidized by, but not limited to, zero taxes on stock returns, IRA, 401k’s, crypto currencies, and real-estate. 3) Create a ‘National Retirement Security Program’ (NRSP) that will give taxpayers the ability to opt. In or Out of the program, maintained by several public, not private companies with Federal oversight.

What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?

It's not about minimizing spending. We are on the brink of an economic collapse. Our country's 23 trillion dollar debt can never truly be paid off. We need to abolish the 'Income Tax Act,' remove the I.R.S., repeal the 16th Amendment, and make our fiat currency backed by gold, other precious commodities and most certainly, digital crypto currencies.

Under what circumstances should taxpayers help pay off existing student loans?

Taxpayers should NEVER have to assist in paying off anyone's existing student loans aside from their own. No one is responsible for anyone else's personally acquired debt except for the individual who incurred the debt.

Religious Liberty

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.

Yes

What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?

Just as it is covered in the First Amendment, I should have the ability to practice and profess my religious practice and that it should not affect my or anyones ability to perform in their civic responsibilities.

Healthcare

It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.

Neutral

I support the elimination of private healthcare insurance.

Strongly Disagree

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

I believe federal run medicare for all would utterly destroy our economy. Eliminating private insurance would not do us any good. Instead I would propose: 1) Create a national ‘optional’ healthcare plan which could be known as ‘Ameri-care.’ American-care would compete aggressively with private insurances. Ameri-care would be 40 or 50 percent more affordable then the current private insurance plans and this would also provide less expensive package plans for the verified temporarily unemployed and low-income households. 2) Provide yearly data on unnecessary medical waste to be provided to an Accountable Care Organization (ACO) so medical communities can make quick and decisive quality improvements on the delivery of medical care. 3) Control prescription drug costs by capping the pharmaceutical companies on how much they can charge per medication and release their drug patents in a more reasonable amount time in order that they can be more accessible to the public.

National Security

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Disagree

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?

The 'War on Terror' was a faceless and ideologic enemy that could never be met on a battle field. We need to first understand that as long as there are human beings in this world, irrelevant of religious or cultural differences, there will always be someone who will want nothing more then to terrorize. We need to continue to maintain and strengthen the United States directive of zero negotiation or compliancy with terrorist supporting countries and organizations. Assure the radical Islamic enemies that when one American is attacked, it will be met with overwhelmingly in power and force. Always allow for the enemy to negotiate peace provided those Islamic governments allow their own citizens to freely practice sovereignty without tyranny. And if true peace is to ever succeed, these once supporting radical Islamic governments need to condemn 'publicly' all terrorist cell organizations who continue to attack free and innocent peoples and societies.

Immigration

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Agree

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) should be abolished.

Strongly Disagree

State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.

Agree

Employers should be required to use E-verify to confirm the eligibility of their employees to work in the United States.

Neutral

Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?

People who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. are those who properly filed for citizenship, people who are seeking asylum who can be verifiably and properly vetted non-criminals, and child and sex traffic victims.

Education

Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.

Disagree

Values

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.

Strongly Disagree

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a firm practicing believer in the Bible and that Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior. I stand steady on the belief that I must first love the Lord my God and second, love my neighbor as myself. I am convinced of the fact that America has been moving away from our understanding of Origin, Purpose and Destination. Origin, who made us and how did we get here? Purpose, why are we here and what are we supposed to do? Destination, where are we going? When you remove God from the picture, you remove these three key factors that make life purposeful. My answers to understanding our origin is that I believe God made us and put us here on this earth, our purpose is to love Jesus and serve him as we should serve others, and our destination as a believer in Jesus Christ is Heaven. I value my country, freedom, sovereignty and family to name a few.

Qualifications

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

Please see my website at www.danielmercuri.com; under the New Measures and Current Issues webpages, I address a number of issues such as Immigration, the 2nd Amendment, Economics etc. My views align with the Constitution and most individuals tend to consider that a Conservative political approach.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.

No.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

End corruption. Term Limits is key, but how would I be any different then those who professed the same desire and simply gave lip service? Symbols go a long way. If I am to be so fortunate to be elected, I will and so should all candidates be willing to formalize a written self-proclamation to be handed to the people of their district that I will or they should, step down in 4 Congressional terms, 8 years on my own accord, vacate the seat and never sit in another congressional seat forever! Representatives like to spout equality, yet they are the most divided and sit in a seat that are the most unequal in all of the land. The people asked their representatives to illicit their own career demise for the sake of our sovereignty in the 1990's and it was attempted. Congress put on a good show, but it never passed. You should be asking ALL candidates, if they are to be elected, will they be willing to write themselves out of a job and vacate on their own. If not, then you see our problem.

Criminal Justice

Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.

Strongly Agree

2nd Amendment

What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?

If a sexual predator has to register as a sex offender, then we need to add this same principal to gun violent criminals and have them register as a gun offender with cyber monitoring. I stand firm on the 2nd Amendment. I do not support any further gun restrictions that bind the hands of the law-abiding citizen. We need to be focusing on the increased punishment for gun violent criminals.

Other Important Issues

I support BDS (boycott, divestment, and sanction) against Israel if they refuse to allow the creation of a Palestinian state.

Disagree

I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.

Neutral

Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.

Disagree

The Electoral College should be abolished.

Disagree

In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?

No more corrupt career politicians! 1) TERM LIMITS: 4 Terms, 8 Years for all Congressional seats. 2) MERGE THE TWO PARTY HOUSE of REPRESENTATIVES: If Americans are one nation, then why isn't Congress one house? 3) ELIMINATE MONEY FROM LOBBYING: All money, not just big money, needs to be removed from politics, closing the loopholes on campaign fundraising.

Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?

Yes. Most importantly, we need to address what's driving violent acts of racism? I don't believe today's racially violent accounts are the same segregational issues that loomed over America in the 1960's with the Civil Rights Act. I believe these racially driven fears stem from the undermining of our Constitution and Bill of Rights along side the pressures of illegal immigration. A grueling burden American citizens, of all ethnicities are feeling when when it comes to our boarders and what illegal aliens represents may be at the core. Many believe illegal aliens have negatively affected jobs, taxes, security, schools and hospitals. The other pressure stems from policy makers creating laws that contradict the Bill of Rights and undermine the Constitution which are all designed to ensure our freedom and sovereignty.
