Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.
I support the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, which requires health care providers to provide life-saving treatment for infants who survive an attempted abortion.
Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
Roe v. Wade is unconstitutional for 2 reasons: The first is that there is no stipulation (even under the 4th amendment or "privacy clause" and the 9th amendment or "other rights not included") in the US Constitution to justify it. Our Framers would literally "roll over in their graves" if they knew these two amendments were used to end a life in the mother's womb. The second is that the Supreme Court took upon itself to "legislate from the bench" (judicial activism). The SCOTUS's role is to INTERPRET the law, not to create laws; creating laws is up to Congress. Roe v. Wade was a grave "overreach" from the bench in 1973. Aside from the stated reasons above as to why Roe v. Wade is unconstitutional, there are moral arguments to be made: Life begins the moment a heartbeat is detected and must be sanctified as such.
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has a livable income.
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?
A conversation needs to ensue on how to restructure Social Security so that those who have paid into the system their entire lives are guaranteed the benefits that they were promised. Some logical changes can be made to allow for greater autonomy and flexibility when one retires or becomes too ill to work.
What government spending would you reduce in order to balance the budget?
Erroneous, wasteful, and illogical spending should be eradicated immediately. How can, (and why should we) continue to sustain a government that is $23 TRILLION in debt? Congress has not been a good arbiter of OUR money!
Under what circumstances should taxpayers help pay off existing student loans?
A major overhaul of student loans is needed. The government should no longer be "in the business" of providing student loans; it should go back to the private sector. Taxpayers are increasingly being asked to bear the burden of a voluminous amount of "government programs," and these hurt the middle class more than any other group. The government needs to get "its house in order" and eliminate the $23 TRILLION debt before it asks taxpayers to fund yet another program such as student loan
Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
I promise to protect the freedom of Christians to share the Gospel and to practice Biblical principles.
What does "separation of church and state" mean to you?
21st Century culture has this all backward. When our Framers introduced the concept of "Separation of Church & State," the intent was to ensure that the STATE did not corrupt the CHURCH. We have completely twisted it around. Religion has always and was intended to, play a dominant role in the public square. We are a far better society for having the 10 commandments displayed in our courtrooms and city squares than we are without them. The insanity must stop. The First Amendment stipulates "Freedom OF religion, not Freedom FROM religion."
It is the government’s responsibility to ensure everyone has health insurance.
I support the elimination of private healthcare insurance.
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
"Phase by Phase” approach to reforming Healthcare: Nothing would do more to fix our health-care system than moving away from a system dominated by employer-provided health insurance and instead making health insurance personal and portable, controlled by the individual rather than government or an employer. Put purchasing power in the hands of the consumer. We also need to increase competition in the insurance market. Individualized approach to Healthcare: Precision and Bioelectric Medicine Aggressive public education campaign on being your own best advocate for your individual healthcare needs.
The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?
Maintain a strong presence in the Middle East to ensure the Caliphate does not return/strengthen. Use international and domestic intelligence and security resources to detect and thwart any attacks. Continue as many partnerships/alliances with other countries who are willing to help fund the U.S. efforts against radical Islam.
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) should be abolished.
State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.
Employers should be required to use E-verify to confirm the eligibility of their employees to work in the United States.
Who should be allowed to immigrate to the U.S. and under what circumstances?
The U.S. has the most generous immigration in the entire world, and this has always been the case. Lawful people who desire to come to this country can and should be admitted if they follow the proper channels and procedures Our amnesty laws are also exceedingly gracious. We must secure our borders and have a speedy but thorough process of who is allowed to come into the United States.
Taxpayer-funded public education should be guaranteed through college.
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which is necessary for our system of limited government.
I support adding sexual orientation, gender identity and gender expression as protected classes in non-discrimination laws.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
My Faith is everything to me. I adhere to a biblical worldview. I am an originalist to the US Constitution and a fierce advocate of our unique democratic Republic. We must fortify the basic principles that this country was founded upon. There is no other place in the world as exceptional as the United States of America. Our Framers created this nation with firm knowledge, respect, and adherence to Judeo-Christian values. Those can and must remain. The 10 Commandments are not only necessary and beneficial to those who believe in the bible, but for anyone who strives to maintain a purposeful and orderly existence.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
Although many would wonder why I did not check the "Very Conservative" box, I maintain that I am a sensical, amiable, and reasonable Conservative. My values and beliefs are the core of who I am as a person, and there is no greater place to live out my faith than in the United States of America. The beauty of the US Constitution, and why I am fighting so hard to restore and fortify it, is because it works for ALL Americans: you do not have to adhere to my beliefs and standards, but you will not eclipse my personal and religious freedoms simply because I do not agree with you. Throughout the majority of our nation's history, Americans have operated and orbited in the "middle." We have more commonality than differences among us, and that is the beauty of this incredible democratic experience called America. I respect other's perspectives and views, while fiercely maintaining that mine are equally valuable and important.
Have you ever been convicted of a felony or been penalized for sexual misconduct? If so, please explain.
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
I am a sincere Populist: I’m an American Historian, mother of 5, common everyday person. The entire role of the US House of Reps is to “represent.” My entire life has been spent on the football and softball fields, at Costco and WalMart, serving in my church and in our community. The preamble states “We the People…” and I believe in it. There are far too many tenured, establishment “out of touch” congressional reps and it’s time for a louder, fresher, more passionate voice for CA-04. CA-04 is vast, diverse, and should be playing a larger role on the national stage. My district is a beautiful blend of rural and suburban America. Almost every political issue plays out here in CA-04: Environmental Stewardship, Fire and Forestry, stable Economic Growth, Healthcare, Education, Immigration, Affordable Housing, and so on. I am fighting for your families, freedom, and future: Julianne Benzel for Congress!
Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.
What restrictions on gun ownership are needed to protect public safety?
There is already a dizzying array of gun laws in this country so let's start with closing the voluminous amount of loopholes and "cracks" in the system that allow for those who should not possess firearms to do so. Universal background checks are a reasonable and logical solution that can be added at the federal level. However, I would have to look at the sponsored legislation before knowing whether I would vote for it or not.
I support BDS (boycott, divestment, and sanction) against Israel if they refuse to allow the creation of a Palestinian state.
I support the legalization of recreational marijuana.
Reparations should be given to people on the basis of race.
The Electoral College should be abolished.
In priority order, what three areas of legislation do you propose to author or sponsor if elected?
-Healthcare Reform Bill -Parents Bill of Rights -Environmental Stewardship Bill: Water Infrastructure, Logical Land Management, Affordable Fire Insurance
Is racism a threat to domestic security in the United States? Why or why not?
Racism has always been a troubling issue in our society, and I am bereaved to say that, although we have made substantial gains in this area (and those should be applauded and celebrated more than they are), to think that racism will ever be eradicated is completely naive. I'm not sure I would suggest that racism is a "threat to domestic security" but we must certainly continue to watch and thwart radical internal groups from terrorizing or targeting others from within.
