Right to Life

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Agree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Life begins at conception. It is never justified to deliberately take the life of an innocent person whether born or unborn. If, in a medical emergency, a doctor makes his/her best efforts to save the life of both a mother and an unborn baby, the doctor should not be held responsible if either patient does not survive. Today's medical technology allows in almost all cases for a reasonable effort to attempt to save both lives. If a choice does have to be made, it should be up to the mother, family, and doctor as in all other emergency medical decisions. Rape and incest are horrific tragedies. But the solution should begin with the death penalty for the criminals rather than for the victims. As a pastor who has counseled women who painfully regret their abortions, I am convinced that ADOPTION is a better path for healing rather than abortion. Adding guilt to a mother's pain and confusion does not lead to the emotional and psychological healing they deserve.

It is the government’s responsibility to be sure everyone has a livable income.

Strongly Disagree

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

Congress should pass a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution.

Strongly Agree

What is the best way to bring down unemployment?

There's an old saying, "What gets rewarded gets repeated." We need to reward people for working rather than rewarding them for "working the system." Our welfare programs need to be designed to give people a hand up rather than a hand out. We need to improve education and increase trade skills. We need to make Louisiana attractive for new businesses to relocate and profitable for them to remain here once they are successful. Fair tax incentives with proper accountability, improve education to provide a higher quality ready work force, build better infrastructure, and offer an overall higher quality of life. This will bring in higher paying, career level jobs and keep our best and brightest work force in Louisiana rather than having them relocate to other states.

What role should government play in boosting the economy?

History shows that the less control the government has over the economy, the better it gets. The government needs to empower businesses to grow and expand rather than taxing them to death and crippling their growth potential. If the government over-taxes businesses - especially small businesses - the result will obviously be self-destructive. In short - Don't kill the goose that lays the golden eggs. BUILD THE WALL! Illegal immigration is crippling our economy by allowing a sub-culture of millions of illegal aliens to take jobs from legal workers without paying taxes and also providing billions of dollars in a wide variety of benefits. Increased crime rates automatically decrease economic growth. We need to focus on reducing crime and recidivism.

Religious Liberty

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

Strongly Agree

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

It is the government’s responsibility to be sure everyone has health insurance.

Strongly Disagree

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

The founding fathers promised us life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. The government is NOT responsible for providing a socialistic national healthcare system. But what they can do is regulate the exorbitant costs of prescription drugs, hospital visits, and surgeries. The Health Insurance companies and the Pharmaceutical companies are in a tug-of-war for profits and the people get stuck in the middle. The legislature needs to stand up to the pressure of lobbyists and create quality health care standards and reasonable cost limits that don't put quality health care out of reach.

National Security

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Agree

I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.

Strongly Disagree

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Strongly Agree

State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.

Strongly Agree

Tuition-free public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Disagree

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which permitted our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

Parents should be the primary authority in decisions affecting their minor children.

Strongly Agree

The LGBTQ+ political agenda poses a threat to First Amendment freedoms of speech, expression and religious exercise.

Strongly Agree

I support expanding protections in employment and accommodations based on sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.

Strongly Disagree

If children are given instruction in sex education in public schools, it should not express a preference for abstinence but should be comprehensive, offering discussions on various types of sexual orientations and behaviors plus all types of contraceptives.

Strongly Disagree

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

"Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely." The founding fathers knew they needed a delicate balance of power and accountability. It is necessary for the Executive, Legislative, & Judicial branches of government to hold each other accountable as outlined in the Constitution. However an abuse of this balance, such as excessive executive orders by the president, or judges who rob the voters of their legislative authority by legislating from the bench, will destroy this balance.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

As a career pastor with an accredited Bible College degree, I have developed a solid belief in the literal interpretation of scripture and the power that resides in the hearts of true believers through the Holy Spirit. I received Christ as my Savior when I was twelve years old and was baptized in a muddy pond in the middle of a cow pasture. My purpose in life is to glorify God and honor Him with my talents, gifts, and opportunities. I believe Christians should be leaders in all areas of society including the military, business, education system, and every area of government and civil service. I believe, as the founding fathers did, that our nation cannot long survive without dedication to God and the principles of the Bible.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I have always held to a high standard of honesty, integrity, work-ethic, and community involvement. I have a very broad base of leadership experience that ranges from praying with the sick in hospital rooms to negotiating with high-level business owners in board rooms. In my early years, I was a ship builder, home builder, and have always enjoyed the personal rewards of an honest day's pay for a hard day's work. One of my main values is Principles Over Politics. It's not a campaign slogan. A battery will function the same way whether you put it in a flashlight, remote control, or radio. The same is true for a person of principle. I can compromise on policy without compromising on principle, regardless of the specific issue or political pressure that comes against me.
