Right to Life

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Agree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Abortion should be allowed only in those exceedingly rare instances in which the mother's life is likely to be lost as a result of the pregnancy or birth, and even then, the decision to accept such risk or not should be left up to the mother.

It is the government’s responsibility to be sure everyone has a livable income.

Strongly Disagree

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

Congress should pass a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution.

Strongly Agree

What is the best way to bring down unemployment?

The best way to lower unemployment is through lowering taxes. Lower corporate income and sales taxes allow business owners to keep more of their income and allows consumers to spend more at their businesses, respectively. The additional funds are often used by owners for expansions to their businesses, including hiring of additional workers.

What role should government play in boosting the economy?

The economy tends to work best when the government keeps out of it. The role of government within the economy is best served as that of a referee ensuring that no one abuses the rules. Too often, the government steps in to create additional regulations that move it from the role of referee to coach, enacting policies that are akin to choosing winners in our economy. If the government is serious about boosting the economy, reducing taxation and over-regulation while embracing serious tort reform is a good start to helping companies and individuals.

Religious Liberty

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

It is the government’s responsibility to be sure everyone has health insurance.

Strongly Disagree

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

I'd like to see an increase in competition among insurance companies, and I'm very much in favor of allowing these companies to compete across state lines. Competition in a free-market system lowers prices and improves quality of service. Additionally, I think the government has for decades been slowly replacing the church, synagogue, and private organization as an entity of charity. It's not the government's responsibility to extend charity; it's ours. I'm a proponent of charity hospitals such as Shriners' Hospitals for Children, which I support through Masonic dues and donations. If the government feels that it has to have a hand in the healthcare system, I'd much rather see it explore ways to promote such charity systems and private coverage as opposed to turning the greatest healthcare system in the world into the DMV.

National Security

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Agree

I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.

Strongly Disagree

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

Strongly Agree

State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.

Strongly Agree

Tuition-free public education should be guaranteed through college.

Strongly Disagree

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which permitted our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

Parents should be the primary authority in decisions affecting their minor children.

Strongly Agree

The LGBTQ+ political agenda poses a threat to First Amendment freedoms of speech, expression and religious exercise.

Strongly Agree

I support expanding protections in employment and accommodations based on sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.

Strongly Disagree

If children are given instruction in sex education in public schools, it should not express a preference for abstinence but should be comprehensive, offering discussions on various types of sexual orientations and behaviors plus all types of contraceptives.

Strongly Disagree

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

Man's sinful nature was recognized by the founding fathers, both from Biblical teachings and the evidence of history. By their design, these faithful men attempted to place a stopgap between abuses of power and the flawed leaders who could potentially fall to temptation.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a Southern Baptist who raises my children according to Biblical guidance. There is one true God who divinely inspired the writing of His Holy Word in the Bible. His only son, Jesus Christ, was born of a virgin and crucified under Pilot, despite His innocence. I am a flawed human convicted by my sin but saved through my savior's sacrificial payment of my sin-debt. The Lord has sent us also His Holy Spirit to be a light in our dark hours. Only through forgiveness through Jesus can one's eternal soul be saved from the deserved punishment of hell. I believe that God cares for us and offers us the choice of salvation out of His unending love for us.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

I suppose I'm qualified after having a father in politics when I was just a boy. I worked on his campaign in every aspect of volunteer duty just as hard as any adult. I saw what it takes to be in politics and keep a regular day job. I learned what it takes to be in politics and still be a father and a Godly man. I guess I'm qualified through working on several other campaigns throughout my life, through studying politics as a hobby, and through wanting a better life for my children. I'm qualified by watching every year as students I teach cross a stage to receive a diploma but find no employment waiting on the other side, because Louisiana taxes job creators right out of the state. I console these young people who don't want to leave their homes but have to to get by. So they move to states all around ours where the jobs are plentiful and money is good, but our government won't take any page from another's successful playbook. This isn't just what qualifies me. It is what drives me.

E-mail address and phone number for voters to reach you: (318)496-9348

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I did not enter this arena timidly, but with prayerful consideration and the support of my family. I do not take the task lightly. People have often thought of me as the friendly little teacher, a nice guy. But there comes a time in the life of every nice guy when he has to decide to either continue sitting on the sidelines being nice and quiet or to stand up and do what's right. I'm through being just nice. This election is a chance to actually change my state for the better, to give the students I love a better chance, and to establish for my own children a place to be proud of. I hope you'll join me in redefining our state.

Criminal Justice

I support the death penalty.

Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.

Strongly Agree

2nd Amendment

More restrictive gun control is needed to protect public safety.

Strongly Disagree

Other Important Issues

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

Gambling should be limited to existing forms and should not be de-regulated or expanded.
