Right to Life

Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Strongly Agree

Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive taxpayer funds or grants from federal, state, or local governments.

Strongly Agree

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Abortion, because it is a deliberate attempt to end life, should not be allowed. In the rare instances where the continuation of pregnancy is an immediate threat to the life of the mother, the baby should be delivered early with all attempts to save both the mother and the baby. There is the possibility that the baby may die, but there should be no intent to cause harm to the baby, but instead to preserve the life of both the mother and the child.

It is the government’s responsibility to be sure everyone has a livable income.

Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.

Strongly Agree

Congress should pass a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution.

What is the best way to bring down unemployment?

We need to crank up the economic engine by building new infrastructure - roads, bridges and drainage ditches. We need to position Louisiana to encourage private investment that stirs economic opportunity for our young citizens to capitalize on and build their own future and wealth. We also need to address tort reform and insurance reform. We need to continue to invest in postsecondary education and job training.

What role should government play in boosting the economy?

The role government plays is investing the taxpayers' funds it receives into projects that benefit the citizens by affording them the opportunity to build and grow homegrown businesses. This spreads money to more citizens to help eliminate poverty and, at the same time, generates positive movement for Louisiana.

Religious Liberty

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Agree

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.

Strongly Agree

It is the government’s responsibility to be sure everyone has health insurance.

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

The problem of healthcare coverage is overwhelming and will not be solved overnight. Too many hardworking citizens struggle to pay costly insurance premiums while the cost of healthcare continues to increase, making it impractical to not have insurance.

National Security

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Agree

I support the use of Sharia law as a basis for legislation and judicial decisions in the United States.

Strongly Disagree

The best way to maintain peace is through a strong military.

State and federal funds should be denied to any public or private entity, including but not limited to sanctuary cities, that are not in compliance with immigration laws.

Strongly Agree

Tuition-free public education should be guaranteed through college.

Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which permitted our system of limited government.

Strongly Agree

Parents should be the primary authority in decisions affecting their minor children.

Strongly Agree

The LGBTQ+ political agenda poses a threat to First Amendment freedoms of speech, expression and religious exercise.

I support expanding protections in employment and accommodations based on sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.

If children are given instruction in sex education in public schools, it should not express a preference for abstinence but should be comprehensive, offering discussions on various types of sexual orientations and behaviors plus all types of contraceptives.

Strongly Disagree

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

To address the human tendency to compete for power, the founders wanted a constitutional government with three separate branches to prevent domination or abuse of power.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

My values are my love for God, family, and country. I am a Christian. I am a Catholic. I believe that the Bible is God's word and the Ten Commandments are the moral compass by which to live. I was born and raised in a small rural community where my wife of 41 years and I remained and brought up our ten children. We love being the grandparents of fifteen, with one the way. I am proud to be a Louisianian and an American.

I voted in these elections:

2012 Primary, 2012 General Election, 2014 Primary, 2014 General Election, 2016 Primary, 2016 General Election, 2018 Primary, 2018 General Election

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

Life Advocate Award, Louisiana Right to Life Eleven time winner of Louisiana Family Forum Outstanding Family Advocate Award or Family Advocate Award (2008-2019)

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

I feel that my twelve years experience as state representative for district 37 and my voting record qualify me to hold the office of senator, district 25. Having shared an office for twelve years with the current district 25 state senator is an experience that enables me to best serve the needs and concerns of the constituents of the district.

E-mail address and phone number for voters to reach you: (337)246-0021

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I would like for people to know that I am a small business owner and family man, a father of ten. We have a family run auction business, specializing in construction and farm equipment. It has been my pleasure and privilege to represent the people of District 37 and it has always been my goal to serve and to put people first. To that end, I have encouraged constituents to contact me, directly or through my district office, with any concerns they may have.

Criminal Justice

I support the death penalty.

Mandatory minimum sentencing should be required and enforced for violent crimes.

2nd Amendment

More restrictive gun control is needed to protect public safety.

Other Important Issues

People should be able to vote without photo identification.

Strongly Disagree

Gambling should be limited to existing forms and should not be de-regulated or expanded.
