Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

No woman should be forced to endure a pregnancy that was forced upon her or which threatens her health. I believe our laws should protect the unborn, while providing a legal process to pursue abortion if a judge decides that the mother's special circumstances warrant it.

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?

I believe the US should pursue peaceful foreign policy. This would help minimize terrorist blowback.

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

The Founders of our Nation saw state power as both tyrannical in nature and necessary for the benefits described in The Preamble of the Constitution. The Constitution was composed as a rule book to specifically limit state power, recognizing both our divine and selfish natures and providing a context for the former to thrive for generations in spite of the latter.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I believe we are all created in the Image of God and charged with the responsibility to bring that Image into the world. Jesus was the ultimate exemplar of this. The New Testament is full of examples of authorities trying to limit Jesus to tragic ends. If God grants us free will to live in accordance with His will (or not) and then learn from the consequences, shouldn't we extend the same courtesy (within reasonable limits) to our fellow man? On a spectrum of conservatism ranging from libertarian and authoritarian, I stand on the pole of Liberty. I believe individuals should be compassionately judged by their merit and behavior, not their gender, skin color, ethnicity or religion. I fight for equality of opportunity for all, including the unborn. I believe individuals and charitable institutions are better equipped to care for people than government programs and that people of faith should not be required to sacrifice their beliefs in the operation of their businesses.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

Healthcare is a service, not a right. We should all have the right to go to a doctor and negotiate a price and if a mutually beneficial arrangement can’t be found, to go to another doctor. This is the free market I promote. It maximizes the quality of service and minimizes prices. The more government imposes itself on this system the more that quality of service drops and prices rise. Also, we shouldn’t just be limiting our sense of healthcare to conventional medicine. For example, medical cannabis is an empowering medicine which treats countless conditions effectively and safely and which can be grown in one’s one backyard. "For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving." (1 Timothy 4:4)

What role should government play in boosting the economy?

America should have a free market and operate on the principle of free trade. That is the most likely setting for win-win transactions, wherein mutually beneficial exchanges can take place. While our country largely operates as a free market, in many ways it is not actually free, but rather tethered by a great deal of governmental intervention and control, too often for the benefit of big corporate interests at the expense of everyday people. Many blame the ideal of free markets for the economic disparities which result and cry for more governmental intervention in the pursuit of equity, but socialism is not the answer to the injustices of Crony Capitalism. Free markets are. Liberty is in everyone's best interest.

What changes should be made to the tax code?

I am an advocate for lower taxation for all - the lower, the better. I would support the Fair Tax.

What is the best way to bring down unemployment?

I believe in sound money. Our currency has devalued to a factor of over 25x since the creation of our Central Bank (which is actually privately owned), meaning that one dollar today has the same buying power that about 4 cents had in 1913. Prosperity is a function of liberty - not of artificially inflated currency. Our government must adopt conservative fiscal policy with the requirement that it operate within the confines of a balanced budget.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I believe healthy family dynamics teach us the true value of love, respect and responsibility, which in turn form the basis of healthy societal dynamics, including charity, civility and service. Governmental policy must not be imposed upon this natural arrangement in a manner that undermines these values. Involuntary taxation and welfare programs should not be mistaken for voluntary love and charity. Such policy fosters resentment and criminality rather than self-respect and civility and rewards victim-hood and entitlement rather than responsibility and service. The Welfare State dis-empowers those it purports to help at great cost to society. The less government tries to fix such matters once reserved to charitable organizations and caring community members, the more healthy family and societal dynamics will naturally find expression, affirming compassion, gratitude and prosperity.
