Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.

Strongly Disagree

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Strongly Disagree

Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Until a fetus can live outside the womb abortion decisions should be made by the pregnant woman not by the government. Performing an abortion is a relatively easy operation but it can be life threatening. Making abortions illegal will not eliminate them. We do not want to return to having abortions done in back alleys. If the goal is to reduce the number of abortions, we need to provide better sex education in schools.

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?

We and the Russians need to stop sending weapons into the Middle East. Instead of arms we need to be sending economic help. Terrorism thrives in poor economic conditions.

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

Our Constitution is a product of compromise. It is our nature to try and get along, and getting along involves compromise.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a Christian Atheist. I was raised a Missouri Synod Lutheran back when the Missouri Synod was much more liberal than it is today. I still have the same values but I no longer believe in the god of the Bible. I believe in the Universe as reveled by modern day science.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

We need to expand Medicare to cover everyone. An expanded Medicare with copays based on income would be much cheaper than the complex insurance system we have now. Insurance companies are in business to make money. We need to change the focus of our health care system system from money making to providing service. Anyone who is getting good service at reasonable cost has not been to the doctor's offices I go to.

What role should government play in boosting the economy?

The government should make sure everyone who is able and wants to work has a job paying at least $15/hr. If the private sector does not provide these jobs than the government should. There is plenty of money for the government to provide jobs if it taxes the right people.

What changes should be made to the tax code?

People living and working in this country should pay Social Security Tax on their total income.

What is the best way to bring down unemployment?

Hire one million new preschool, elementary, high school, and college teachers.

How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?

If everyone paid Social Security tax on their total income and maximum benefits remain the same the system would be solvent and benefits for lower income people could be increased.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

I graduated from Michigan State University and I have about 30 years of government service. I am a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran, have worked for the Post Office, and I worked 27 years for the State of Michigan.
