Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

As a man, I don't believe it is my (nor any other male's) place to determine a woman's reproductive rights. Providing Americans with easily accessible resources for Family planning and Women's health are of the utmost importance. To undergo an abortion is an invasive, often traumatic experience. The decision is deeply personal. We are not God. No Government, individual or group has the right or authority to control or legislate the inner-workings of the female body.

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?

Hate begets Hate. The current trend of increased racial and religious intolerance combined with the vitriol that proliferates online is guaranteed to increase the threat of radical Islamic terrorism. Proper security measures should be taken to monitor the activity of suspected terrorists, but not to the point of dehumanizing 3.45 Million American Citizens.

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

The constitution was carefully constructed to control man's inherent proclivity to power, passion and corruption. "Power tends to corrupt and Absolute Power corrupts Absolutely." Three equally powerful branches were created to control any one from gaining too much power. Passions define mankind, but also leave him prone to rash actions. Checks and Balances were put in place to ensure that the laws were formed over time and with deliberation and objectivity.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I was baptized, raised and confirmed in the Episcopal Church. The Church has repeatedly been my rock and guiding light through dark and dangerous periods of my life. In sobriety (I celebrate 11 years sober on September 17th), I have broadened my understanding of God and have found immense satisfaction in cultivating a strong personal spiritual connection and open communication with my God. My upbringing has instilled a strong sense of duty, and an unwavering commitment to serving others.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Moderate

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

No Answer

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

"Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness" are "Unalienable Rights". Until we are able to provide comprehensive, affordable healthcare to every American, we are failing our forefathers and our fellow brothers and sisters. The Affordable Care Act is far from perfect (or even passable) in its current iteration, but repealing the ACA would be a monumental error. It is not a solution, but the first step in the right direction. Party politicians are actively hurting the American People who elected them to provide solutions,. The infighting and stonewalling and name calling MUST come to an end. Our government will cease to function unless our representatives come together and work in unison.

What role should government play in boosting the economy?

Trickle Up Economics is more effective than Trickle Down.

What changes should be made to the tax code?

The tax code needs to be simplified, and loop holes need to be eradicated. The various levels of taxable income need to be redefined to reflect the current economic stratification of American citizens. The tax code needs to reward the middle class and those working toward being upwardly mobile.

What is the best way to bring down unemployment?

We need to encourage Small Business Entrepreneurship, Rural Economic Growth, Industry diversification and proactively assist Women in Business.

How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?

Protect the services in place and put in place legislation to ensure the Social Security will survive for future generations.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

My life experience has given me a unique perspective on the human condition and life in America. Unless one has actually experienced something first hand it is hard to truly understand and empathize. Understanding someone's plight on an intellectual level is very different than walking in his/her shoes. I have experienced economic success, and have qualified for food stamps and government assistance. I know what it's like to constantly live on the edge; not having enough money to buy food, pay rent or afford to go to the hospital. I have been healthy and have suffered from a chronic illness. I currently care for a partner with a chronic illness. I have been in the depths of alcoholism and know that recovery and sobriety are possible. I don't claim to understand everything, but I strive to hear, learn, help and serve.
