Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.
I am in favor of construction of a wall and other necessary infrastructure on our border that gives complete control over entering and exiting the United States.
Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.
Governments should define marriage as between one man and one woman; no other definition of marriage should be legalized or supported with taxpayer or public funds.
It is the government’s responsibility to be sure everyone has a livable income.
It is the government’s responsibility to be sure everyone has health insurance.
Judeo-Christian values established a framework of morality which permitted our system of limited government.
More restrictive gun control is needed to protect public safety.
Free enterprise and the right to private property are essential elements of a productive economic system.
Additional regulations are needed to prevent climate change.
Religious liberty is at risk in the United States and deserves the highest level of protection in the law.
The United States should help defend Israel from attack by its enemies.
Abortion providers, including Planned Parenthood, should not receive funds from federal, state, or local governments.
Islamic law (Sharia) should take precedence over national and state laws where there are Islamic majority communities in the U. S.
Congress should pass a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution.
People should be allowed to use public restrooms, showers, and changing rooms based on "gender identity."

It is OK for Congress to exempt itself from compliance with laws applicable to all citizens.
I support the death penalty.
Tuition-free public education should be guaranteed through college.

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
Everyone has the right to life – from conception through natural death. I do not believe abortion should be legal in any circumstances except to save the life of the mother. Throughout my career as a doctor, and as an Arizona State Senator, I’ve demonstrated a consistent commitment to protecting the right to life. I have a 100% pro-life voting record as an Arizona State Senator.
What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?
The loss of nearly 3,000 American lives on 9/11 demonstrated the critical need for America to control its borders. Our southern border must be secured, our system of visas for those who come to our country must be overhauled, and we need to know who is coming into our country, so we can protect innocent Americans from those who would do us harm. America’s intelligence community plays a critical role in alerting law enforcement and our military of emerging threats to Americans at home and abroad. I support President Trump’s initiative to rebuild our military and ensure we deter those who would attack our country, and to swiftly respond to any attack as warranted.
What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?
President Madison once famously wrote that, “If men were angels, no government would be necessary.” This is the fundamental understanding of mankind’s nature that prompted the Founders to separate, and limit, the power of each branch of government. As people, we are fallible, prone to any number of shortcomings, and to ensure that our government is not crippled by those shortcomings, our system of checks and balances is necessary.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I grew up in the United Methodist Church. As a child, I sang in the children’s choir and was an acolyte, before going on to teach Sunday School as an adult. In Arizona, I joined Calvary Baptist Church, the sponsoring church for Calvary Christian Academy - the K-8 school our children attended. I also served as part of the praise and worship team before getting involved in politics. I’ve attended Calvary Baptist for 18 years and counting. When I spend time in Phoenix, I attend Southgate Community Church, which is like a home away from home. I also volunteer time with several charitable organizations – such as Feed My Starving Children and One Bag at a Time – and am always looking for ways to help others who need a hand up.
When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?
Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.
A wealth of information on all of my ideas for making improvements in Washington are available on my website at kelliward.com and via social media @KelliWardAZ.
How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?
Key points of my plan include making Health Savings Accounts available to all, increasing market competition for consumer choice with health insurance tax credits, and repealing costly Obamacare overregulation and taxes. After eight years of Congress promising to repeal Obamacare, the Washington establishment failed, once again, to fulfill their campaign pledges. I have seen all sides of America’s healthcare system, from private practice to academia to making health policy, and beyond. I know our healthcare system cannot be fixed by Washington politicians or scheming bureaucrats, and as U.S. senator I will fight every day to reform healthcare for all Americans, so we can finally access high-quality, cost-effective care. Health insurance should be available to every American, with equal tax treatment of policies purchased by individuals, as well as employers purchasing it for their employees. What role should government play in boosting the economy?
We need leaders in Washington who understand the importance of promoting economic growth. A growing economy creates new jobs, higher incomes, and new opportunities for the American people. The federal government promotes a sound environment for job creation when taxes and regulations are low. Government can also promote job creation by reducing or eliminating the cost of businesses adding an employee, such as with payroll taxes or regulations that kick in when a business reaches a specified number of employees.
What changes should be made to the tax code?
Taxes should be low, simple, and fair. The tax cuts signed by President Trump last year should be made permanent, and whenever we have the opportunity to bring tax rates down further, we should. Vigorous economic growth is key to prosperity, and we need a tax system that promotes a growing economy. Low and predictable taxes are essential to achieve the level of growth we need. But low taxes and economic growth are not enough – I’m committed to reducing government spending, slashing the federal budget deficit, and stopping the federal government from stealing from future generations of Americans to pay for wasteful spending today. I am the only fiscal conservative in this race for the U.S. Senate.
What is the best way to bring down unemployment?
Today’s unemployment rate is low by historical measures. We need to continue reforming taxes to make them low, simple, and fair and to minimize their negative impact on economic growth and opportunities. We must also look for opportunities to reform our labor laws to make it easier for people who want to work part-time to do so – like retirees, and young people who may want to work part-time but not full time. We must also make it easier for health insurance and other benefits to be portable.
How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?
Every American should be able to retire in dignity. That means preserving Social Security benefits while maximizing the options and alternatives today’s workers can use for additional retirement savings. Social Security must be fully funded, with no changes made for today’s retirees or those approaching retirement. To preserve future Social Security benefits, for workers who are today in their 20’s and 30’s, we need to look at options to increase the rate of return on their retirement savings and investments so they can retire in dignity as well.
What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?
During my time in the Arizona Senate, I was provided an excellent opportunity to prepare for serving all Arizonans in the U.S. Senate, establishing a track record of passing legislation that supported small businesses, preserved the Second Amendment, decreased the size of government, addressed the opioid crisis, protected vulnerable Arizona students, and fought Common Core. I was also one of Arizona’s most effective senators, getting 19 bills that cut regulations and scaled back government overreach to the governor’s desk to be signed into law during my final year in office. Perhaps most importantly, I am the only wife, mom, business owner, problem-solver, and healer in the race.
E-mail address and phone number for voters to reach you:
Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?
With me, you'll have a voice and a fighter in the U.S. Senate - someone who brings AZ to DC, not DC to AZ. I will always be honest, authentic, and accessible, and will continue to build relationships with those I represent so we can enjoy government of, for, and by the people.
