Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

To save the life of the mother.

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?

I agree with President Trump that we need to have a stronger immigration policy that includes extreme vetting for people traveling from known terrorist countries. We should also put an end to chain-migration and stop the Obama-era policies of immigration by association. America needs strong border control to keep Islamic terrorists from crossing over an unprotected boarder. For too long we have allowed illegal immigrants to cross our boards, unchecked. In today's world, this is more dangerous than at any time in our nation's history. Now is the time to disregard the liberal calls for political correctness and make sure our country is protected from those who's only mission is to harm America and her citizens.

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

Prudence.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I would never profess to be a perfect person. There has only been one perfect being on this earth and that was Jesus. As with all other people, I am an imperfect person with a sinful nature. However, I have personally witnessed and felt God’s forgiveness and redeeming glory. There are no words to truly express it. I can only pray others will have the same experience. I am a born again Christian. I believe in the sanctity of life and that every life is sacred. God‘s word says that even before we were in the womb He knew us. I believe He empowers every person with a unique skill set and individual talents. He demands each of us use our talents and skills to His glory and for the care of His people. I believe my talent is servant leadership and I seek to fulfill it.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

I have been a legislator in the Idaho House of Representatives for eight years and every vote that I have taken in that period of time is publicly available.

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

The states should take advantage of the Trump administration's offer to work with the states on finding state-based solutions that decrease costs, increase access, and improve care. As much as possible, we should encourage our citizens to seek preventive care in a primary care setting, rather than seeking care at the most expensive point, the emergency room. As healthcare costs continue to rise under Obamacare, Idahoans have struggled to afford their premiums. I will work to roll back the high-priced, Obamacare mandates that have had such a negative effect on our middle-class citizens and families. I believes that a healthcare system built on incentives, rather than mandates, increased regulations, and penalties, will produce the best healthcare outcomes for our citizens. I know that healthcare is best left to the states and I will vote to return Idaho’s decision-making power.

What role should government play in boosting the economy?

As a small business owner, I have seen firsthand how tax hikes and burdensome regulations can stifle a business’ ability to grow and hire employees. The federal bureaucracy justifies its existence by creating more and more regulations…and we bear the burden. At the national level, I will work to get government get out of the way of small business owners, which comprise almost 98% of active businesses nationally. All efforts to reduce taxes, regulations, mandates, and “red tape” should be made to ensure the success of private enterprise. Small businesses are the ones who create the jobs that employ our citizens and stimulate our economy, not the government. Through business-friendly policies and lower taxes, I will give small businesses the opportunity to remain incubators of discovery and innovation, the driving force of our economy. America’s economic growth equates to economic freedom for businesses, individuals, and families alike.

What changes should be made to the tax code?

We must lower taxes at all levels and simplify the tax code. Excessive taxes rob citizens of their ability to provide for themselves and, instead, makes them more dependent on government services. Higher taxes also hamper our economy by inhibiting capital investment and private enterprise. Congress should put America’s citizens FIRST, and not the people of other nations, when spending taxpayer dollars. Tax structures should be designed to keep America’s jobs at home. The Obama recovery has left hard-working Americans underemployed and struggling to make a living wage. Easing the tax burden will allow Idahoans to keep more of what they earn, get back on their feet, and secure their future. We must also simplify the tax code to ease the burden on both individuals and businesses alike. A tax structure which is stable, fair, and easily-implemented is best for our citizens. Congress should raise taxes to reduce the deficit. Instead, Congress should reduce fraud and wasteful spending.

What is the best way to bring down unemployment?

Get government out of the way of our best job creators, small business. Government regulation puts a strain on small businesses and prevents business owners from being able to grow efficiently and hire more employees. We must decrease regulations and create incentives for businesses to grow, make capital improvements, and hire new employees. This should be done through tax incentives and not through government programs. As a small business owner, I know firsthand how difficult it is to balance the responsibilities of running a business and the mountains of paperwork and reporting required by federal, state, and local government agencies. Less regulation = more jobs.

How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?

I believe that we should keep our promise to the hardworking Americans who played by the rules and paid into a system that is supposed to be there for them when they need it the most. However, I disagree that we must tax more or lower benefits to keep our promise. The federal government is bloated with wasteful spending and expensive pet projects that serve no real purpose for the American people. We already pay too much in taxes and do not need to pay more. Government should cut wasteful spending and use the savings to fund our obligation to America's Greatest Generation.
