Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

I support the law as it exists today, but would not vote to expand abortion and in fact would vote to restrict it to 20 weeks. I also believe in allowing abortion for instances of rape, incest, or the health of the mother.

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?

This requires a multi-pronged approach, that includes a strong military, diplomacy and building a coalition among muslim nations to combat the radicalization of Islam. We need to continue with tactical military operations, as well as strengthening our diplomatic relations to ensure cooperation and open lines of communication. Our ultimate goal should be to integrate political, security, economic, and informational components while reducing insurgent influence over the muslim population.

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

The Founder's wisely sought to avoid tyranny by separating and limiting power. Unfortunately, as Lord Acton once said, "power corrupts, absolutely power corrupts, absolutely." Too often, those with unlimited power, use it to enrich and empower themselves at the expense of the people. One major thing the founders got wrong in seeking to curtail power, was not instituting term limits from the start.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

I believe in the free market and believe more needs to be done to reduce the costs of health insurance, by increasing competition and purchasing across state lines; medical malpractice reform; increase the use of health savings accounts; and decrease the costs of prescription drugs.

What role should government play in boosting the economy?

Government should not be in the business of picking winners and losers, it should create a level playing field across the board, by reducing taxes and regulations and ending the practice of crony capitalism, whereby the government invests taxpayer money into subsidies. Additionally, we need to help our small business owners and manufacturers by reducing the costs of doing business, including the cost of energy.

What changes should be made to the tax code?

The recent tax cuts for individuals should be made permanent and the cap on SALT should be removed, so that those living in high tax states are not unfairly penalized by the Federal Government.

What is the best way to bring down unemployment?

Grow the economy and create a business climate that is conducive to corporate spending and entrepreneurs creating jobs.

How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?

This will require a mutli-pronged approach, that includes evaluating the level of benefits, means testing, cost of living adjustments, age of retirement, and the employer/employee contribution. Additionally, it will require the Federal Government to stop raiding the trust fund to pay for operating expenses. None of these are easy answer, but we owe it to our seniors and our future generations to ensure the long term viability of the Social Security.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

I have both public and private sector experience, having served our Country in the military and working as both an attorney and financial services executive in the private sector. I believe we need to get back to the concept of a citizen legislature, where citizens of every background serve and then return to the private sector. I am running for Congress, because I believe my experiences best prepare me to address the issues facing our Country and do so in a manner that puts the people before politics.
