Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

None. Protecting a culture of life is vital. We should be committed in our churches, other non-profits and businesses to helping women in crisis pregnancies with alternate options to abortion and practical support.

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

Sin. Mankind tends to grab for power and act in selfish ways. Our founders understood this basic leaning when writing the checks and balances in our Constitution.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a Chrsitian. This means more specifically I am a wholehearted follower of Jesus Christ who is saved by God's grace through Jesus' life, death and resurrection. I have worked for 24 years to unite the body of Christ in sharing the love of Christ with our nation. I value submitting to God, listening to His voice. I value family as I have been married for 18 years and have 7 kids. I believe in fasting in prayer to seek God's guidance in my daily life. I am not ashamed in any way to tell anyone about my faith or how they can become a submitted follower of Jesus. I also believe that God wants us to act with His power to serve excellently in the natural world. This world isn't ultimately our home but, God cares deeply about His followers doing all they do with excellence in a way that benefits those we serve.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

My whole life has been public in my pursuit of conservative values. For 20 years I have served as the national President of a non-profit that unites Christian leaders across the nation. When I was in college I served as a Vice President of the Young Conservatives of Texas. Recently I served as the Chaplain for the Republican Party of Texas and I presently am our county Chaplain for Williamson County. I serve on various national boards like The National Day of Prayer, National Prayer Committee, Intercessors for America and more. I have served and am serving at the highest levels of leadership in advancing my conservative values.

What is the best way to bring down unemployment?

Remove government excessive red tape and barriers to entry in the private sector. Lower taxes and government spending whenever possible. Seek to promote a free and transparent market in all of our laws. Focus our energies on promoting personal responsibility rather than government nannying. Remove incentives to stay on various welfare programs where they still exist.

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

There are a growing number of doctors who are joining what is becoming known as the Free Market Healthcare Movement across America. Their ideas of price transparency and making the recipient of the care directly involved in the purchase decision are the keys to overhauling our current system. The problem is that price has no correlation to quality or even reality in our current system anymore. I am also for promoting laws which encourage other options beyond traditional insurance like healthcare sharing cooperatives. Of course, we must also dismantle the current Affordable Care Act.

What role should government play in boosting the economy?

The best ways the government can boost the economy is to spend less, regulate less and tax less. We also need to focus on reducing our national debt and trade deficits. In Texas I would like to see us deeply reduce our property tax. This can be done by changing our tax structure and by creating laws which allow for true local control, the voter, to hold our local municipalities accountable to decreasing spending and taxes. I also think we should abolish appraisal boards or at least make them elected rather than appointed officials.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

I have run several small businesses and run a national non-profit for several decades. I have served and currently serve on boards dealing with high level issues, budgets, etc. The non-profit I currently run I started with nothing and built to influence and shift an entire industry in our country. I have worked with over 100,000 students and thousands of leaders on the national, regional and local levels. No one else in my race has anywhere near that experience level.

E-mail address and phone number for voters to reach you:

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I stood publicly with others for changing our Speaker of the House when few thought it was possible. He recently retired. I was the only person to initially run against the incumbent in our district because he wasn't voting for the conservative values he espoused. Few though it was possible there would be any change. He retired to pursue his business about a month and a half after I ran. I fought for our current state party Chairman to be elected because I knew he would push the system and party for change in a conservative direction rather than just talking about it. He won by one vote and has kept his promises. I know how to work with others and build consensus as well as when you need to stand up and fight against conventional wisdom. We need more leaders who care more about our state and country than building some safe political career. I have no interest in building a political career...just serving our district with boldness.
