Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

Only when the life of a mother is threatened and the only viable life that can survive in the opinion of the doctor is hers.

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

Absolute Power Corrupts. That is why we have a system of checks and balances. Although the 17th amendment has somewhat perverted that system and is part of what is leading to the disarray we see today at the federal level. We lost the check that the States were suppose to have by having the US Senator appointed by their legislature.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a Christian that believes that Christ dies for my sins and that by my acceptance of this redemption I will be saved for eternity, when I am eventually called to our Lord. I cannot earn redemption as it is already given. It is just for me to accept it. Although I cannot earn any greater favor for living a life that is a reflection of Christ's, when I am willing to allow Christ and the holy spirit to guide my life it will be one of service to my fellow man and faith in the Lord. I have also received the rights of the 32 degrees of a mason. I was raised to a Master Mason in the Petroleum Lodge #474 in Tulsa Oklahoma on or about 1973. I received the Scottish Rites to all 32 degrees soon thereafter. I also was inducted into the Akdar Shrine. My grandmother was active in the Eastern Star and my wife in the Daughters of the Nile. However, I am no longer active and have let my membership lapse.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

See my website at www.Young4Texas.com See page 28 of the Texas GOP Party Platform in 2016 and in 2014 to see the inclusion of the "1-2-3 No Federal Tax" as a viable option for reducing taxes. While Lois Kolkhorst has said in public at meetings in Austin County that I am good at coming up with new ideas. My LinkedIn professional page probably states it best as: "My objective both as an Engineer and as a citizen is to try to see the Big Picture. I try to combine the many skills I have from diverse engineering and life experiences to understand how to simply make things work. I am a true believer in if you want to get anything done you have to keep it simple. Old tried and true methods are in most cases the best but progress is required. In those cases I need to make sure before running headlong off the cliff the drop is survivable and worth the risk." https://www.linkedin.com/in/marc-young-pe-40739512/

What is the best way to bring down unemployment?

Lower taxes and regulation so that more are willing to risk their capital to create a Company which will create jobs. Teach children a vocation or if they go to college have the curriculums be structured to fit the needs of employers. Don't loan money to take coursework that is not going to lead to a viable field for either employment or self endeavor.

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

Go back to health insurance companies posting what they would pay for procedures. Let people decide how much coverage or risk they want to take. No contact between insurance companies and doctors other than just a validation that an expense was incurred. Doctors should be the sole judge of what is medically required. Patients should be free to select any doctor with no contract. Doctors should be asked to post their procedures so patients could select ones that charge a level they can afford based on the insurance they can afford. No collusion between insurance to fix prices or to set levels of service and all antitrust laws should apply.

What role should government play in boosting the economy?

Get out of its way.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

Engineering degree with 40 years of experience. I have a background as a planner (Senior and Staff Planning Analyst) with a fortune 500 company. I have a business development background as a BD Representative, and BD Manager. I have developed economic models that were used to provide rate structure for regulation of an interstate pipeline. I have developed economic models to determine the net present value of contracts which was the basis for a Corporation spending over a billion dollars. I have reviewed and drafted suggested legislation for my Congressman and State Representative in the past. When I held public office, I looked out for my constituents and in one instance headed off an attempt to divert funds form their account to another client's account due to a conflict of interest. I have been willing to step up and file complaints when I saw issues that I believed compromised public safety or broke the law.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

I am an honest and ethical man. I am a self made man and have worked for and earned everything I own. I am financially comfortable and will not be looking to enrich myself while in public office. I currently am retired living off comfortable off of my wife and my social security and some retirement. What you see is what you get. I tend to tell it like I see it, although my wife tells me all the time you cannot say, That's BS or "Jane you ignorant ....." (I think you know the rest.) Tact is not always my strong suit.
