Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

I do not support abortion under any circumstance.

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?

The U.S. should use every means available to secure our border. We should not allow entry into our country from nations that embrace or support radical Islamic terrorism or activity of any kind that threatens our security and American ideals. We need to have comprehensive immigration reform with extreme vetting measures to allow for legal immigration of only those who are willing to assimilate and pledge allegiance to our country. We should stop chain migration. Militarily, we should be prepared to use strength to ensure our homeland is protected.

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

We are a fallen man and as such greed, control (power) and sin is in our nature.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who is my Lord and Savior. I believe we are each called to a higher purpose to serve one another as part of God's plan. My values are based on my Christian principles and my traditional upbringing in a hardworking, middle class, military family where you were encouraged to be independent and personally responsible for your life and your decisions. Where Faith, Family, Freedom and Free Enterprise are the ideals we hold dear and are worth fighting for. I believe in the promise of America and American Exceptionalism.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

When in a public position of authority and influence I initiated and voted to return prayer back to our city council meetings. I stood against the ACLU when they threatened action for this decision. I voted against any measures that would support climate change. I held the line and voted for a reduction in the local tax rate. I voted to support policies that would provide greater rights to property owners and reduce government regulation. I am a voice of reason and consistently held myself, my colleagues and city staff to higher levels of service and standards of excellence for our citizens. As a small business owner I personally gave of my time, talent and treasure to help the less fortunate or those in need. I supported non-profit organizations with volunteer hours and donations as able.

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

American's should have more choices, lower costs, and greater flexibility in their health insurance options. A one-size-fits-all solution is not the answer. Healthcare should be market-based allowing the consumer to be in charge of their healthcare decisions, not the government. Reforms should encourage greater competition among health-care providers. We should strongly consider making insurance portable. Remove disincentives that create bad outcomes in the area of pharmaceuticals ( pricing model reforms, reduce the process time and costs associated with bringing reliable medicines to market). Repeal Obamacare.

What role should government play in boosting the economy?

The government should maintain economic stability which will provide confidence to the private sector and encourage expansion of entreprenuers and job creation. The government should reduce burdensome regulations that hinder business development and increases the cost of business. The government should be committed to a strong, sound fiscal policy and take action to reduce the ever-increasing debt.

What changes should be made to the tax code?

With the recent passage of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act we are off to a good start. I would like to make the tax code simple I would consider explore taxing based on the right consumption tax base or a flat tax and I would like to repeal the Death Tax.

What is the best way to bring down unemployment?

My years of experience in the staffing and human resource field have shown the best way to bring down unemployment is to match our educational coursework and training options with the jobs that are in demand. We should encourage vocational and technical training as viable and attractive alternatives to traditional four-year college. We should let the market set the rate of pay. We should not place burdensome regulations on companies which drives up the cost of doing business resulting in job cuts. We should encourage intern programs (paid and unpaid) to provide our young people with actual experience, understanding and a deep appreciation for the value of work.

How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?

I am in favor of allowing those Americans who are 50 years or younger to opt out of a portion of their payroll taxes and benefits to private accounts they will own and control. I would consider raising the full retirement age but keep the early retirement age the same with an index for changes in life expectancy. I would consider eliminating the taxable maximum. I would make the current program solvent to keep our promises to our seniors without increasing the current tax rate.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

My experience as a three-term mayor of one of the fastest growing cities in America, a small business owner, a wife, mom and mimi qualifies me to hold the office of U.S. Representative as intended by our founders. As a teen mom who left school, chose life for my unborn child, I know the value of life as a gift from God. As a small business person who competes in the market place I know the importance of the private sector in creating jobs and developing people to their fullest potential. I understand market demands and making a payroll. As a mayor, I balanced multi-million dollar budgets, reduced the tax rate, and battled against liberal policies. I stood for prayer in the public square and in defense of our first responders. I challenged the status quo in my city. I have a great faith that guides me and causes me to stand for freedom, for liberty and for our constitution. As a military dependent I know the sacrifices made for our freedom and will honor all who serve.

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

Thank you for your consideration of my candidacy for U.S. Representative in Texas' 21st Congressional District. Our nation needs, actually requires, citizen servants to step forward to bring the values of the people to Washington - not Washington to the people. We need hardworking Americans to take their place as citizen legislators for a season. I am such an American. District 21 comprises areas where I live, where I conduct business, and where I serve my community and church. With your help it will be where I serve the people, my neighbors, as their Representative. America matters to me. I am bold, battle-tested and ready to lead during this crucial time in the history of our country. Respectfully, Susan Narvaiz
