Human life begins at conception and deserves legal protection at every stage until natural death.

Governments should not discriminate against individuals, organizations or small businesses because of their belief that marriage is only a union of one man and one woman.

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?

I believe life should be protected from the womb to the grave. It is nearly impossible to build support for any life-protecting bills without allowing abortion in pregnancy that threatens the mother’s life. Because this circumstance accounts for less than 1 percent of all abortions, I find it acceptable to make this concession to protect the lives of the other 99 percent.

What should the United States do to help eradicate the threat of radical Islamic terrorism?

The first step in eradicating radical Islamic terrorism is to invest in a strong national defense by restoring the military to maximum readiness, as defined by the military. Radical Islam must be combatted at a multitude of levels, including militarily, economically and ideologically. Lastly, our intelligence agencies must be given latitude to root out home-grown terrorists and mosques where young men and women are becoming radicalized.

What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

The famous John Dalberg-Acton quote obviously influenced the Founders: “Absolute power corrupts absolutely.” I would argue the Bible shared this truth first in Jeremiah 17:9: “The heart is deceitful above all things.” Humankind is fallen–including politicians. That means mistakes, whether intentional or not, will be made. Our Founders designed a brilliant system of government that prohibits one individual from gaining power, and together we are able to determine the proper course for our nation.

Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

As a born again Christian, I believe in the biblical revelation that there is only one God and that He is eternally existent in three persons – the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. I believe that the Bible is the infallible, inspired Word of God. I believe that Christ’s death on the cross paid the penalty for the sins of the world and benefits those who receive Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior. I believe salvation is a free gift of God. Salvation is effected when we repent, believe and personally accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. Salvation should produce a lifestyle of loving obedience and service to Jesus Christ.

When you consider your views on a wide range of issues from economic and social matters to foreign policy and immigration, which of the following best describes you overall?

Very Conservative

Please provide publicly available information validating your answer to the previous question.

As a Reagan conservative, I will fight to push through and protect a conservative agenda that is good for Texas. My stances are available at

How would you promote healthcare coverage that is adequate, affordable and accessible for all?

The first step is repealing the Affordable Health Care policy known as Obamacare. It is anything but affordable and has cost many their jobs and the inability to have good healthcare and is driving doctors out of business. We need to return this issue back to doctors and patient advocates, not politicians.

What role should government play in boosting the economy?

The government should be the great protector but we have made it the great provider. By reducing government regulation, you allow American innovation to flourish, which creates jobs and boosts the economy.

What changes should be made to the tax code?

While the 2017 Tax Reform legislation is a step in the right direction, I support a flat tax of 10 percent for all Americans.

What is the best way to bring down unemployment?

A free market economy that advocates pro-growth policies by reducing federal spending and federal regulation and supports tax reform.

How would you guarantee Social Security benefits for future generations?

I believe Congress should take into consideration gradually increasing the earliest age a person can file for Social Security benefits and the full retirement age, which would reduce the number of Social Security recipients and thereby lower Social Security spending. I also believe Congress should consider changing benefit increases to match inflation. I would also propose an approach recommended by President George W. Bush to allow the creation of personal accounts using a portion of a person's Social Security benefit, allowing recipients to invest more aggressively for higher returns.

What education or experience qualifies you to hold the office for which you seek election?

My family has been active in conservative Republican efforts for decades, and helped usher Ronald Reagan into the Oval Office by starting the “draft Reagan” effort in Texas. I served in both terms of President Ronald Reagan's administration, including working for the U.S. Department of Transportation as a special assistant to the Secretary of Transportation. I also served in the President George H.W. Bush administration as the Deputy Regional Representative of the Secretary for the U.S. Department of Labor and the Director of the Regional Emergency Management Team, for which I received the prestigious Outstanding Public Service Award for my leadership.

E-mail address and phone number for voters to reach you:, 817-889-5500

Is there anything else you would like voters to know about you?

My heart is to serve the hearts and minds of the people of Texas as a U.S. Senator, not as a future President. As a Reagan conservative, I will fight to push through and protect a conservative agenda that is good for Texas. I was born, raised and educated in Texas, and I want what is best for the people of the Lone Star State. I will commit to faithfully serve the full six years, putting first the hearts and interests of the people of our great state. I will not be an obstructionist; I will seek practical solutions and I will help build coalitions.
