What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?
Both the dignity and depravity of humanity. God originally made humanity in his image, holy and happy, free and responsible. However, human nature is now corrupted by sin. Individual and government actions which harm others must be checked to preserve human life, liberty, and property. This consists of enforcing the rules between individuals and in government, punishing wrongdoers who harm their neighbor. Otherwise, we should be left alone, free, and responsible.

Under what circumstances should abortion be allowed?
None generally. However, if one were to come upon a situation in which one would have to choose between saving the mother or the baby, one would probably choose the most viable life if you could not save both.
Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.
I believe that God has revealed himself in nature, the Scriptures and in Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God, whom I seek to follow as my Lord and whom I trust as my Savior, by the Spirit and grace of God. I believe that God created and rules over all things for his glory and that the life and liberty of each human being is sacred. Each are made in God’s image to know and enjoy God, and to be stewards of his creation. I believe humanity now is corrupted by sin. God’s image is still integral to humanity, but the likeness is distorted in varying degrees, and human dignity is mixed with depravity. Actions which harm others may be checked by force to preserve human life and liberty. That is the legitimate role of civil government — justice and the protection of God-given individual rights. Otherwise, it should leave us alone. Civil magistrates, if granted excessive authority and opportunity, may act merely in their own interests and harm the people whom they are to protect.
Considering all issues (social, economic, national security, etc.), which of these best describes you?

Additional comment from candidate:
I would like to clarify my answer to your statement in question #12, "The founders established pure democracy in the Constitution because they believed that it is the best form of government to ensure the safety and equitable treatment of all citizens." We do not have a pure democracy (which our founders despised), but a representative, constitutional republic where even the rights of the minority are protected. Our founders desired our government to protect the life, liberty, and property of individuals. They never envisioned the civil government's role as redistributing the fruit of someone's labor or taking someone's freedom away as long as one did not harm anyone.
