What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers in the Constitution?

Our founding fathers were very learned men. In the course of their education, that they learned of the innumerable kingdoms and empires that rose and fell through the the history of mankind. What was the driving force of these kingdoms and empires? Typically the greed and arrogance of one ruler, family, or governing body. The separation of powers was built in to our Constitution to prevent the solidification of a central power & 'Imperial' aspirations of any leader, and abuse of power.

Please defend your answer to the previous question by referencing your publicly available track record.

I've publicly denounced the effort to redefine marriage... I've publicly announced my intention to fight to end abortion in the state of Indiana, and take that fight back to the Supreme Court if possible. I've publicly announced support for the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, and was appalled at the cowardice of the Super-majority of 'Republicans' when the fight intensified. In reality, at every turn, in public and online, I have proven myself to be more in tune with the values and ideals of the Republican Party than even certain members of established leadership.

Additional comment from candidate:

Indiana needs reformation. Reformation of the state Republican Party. The power of the party needs to be returned to the actual base, and taken from the elitist established 'leaders'..... We must reform the State Goverment in order to return power to citizens, and take the power from the greedy grasps of lobbyists and special interests.... We MUST force reformation in Indiana, and return Indiana back to the path of innovation and advancement because without fixing our state, we can not hope to fix our nation.
