16. What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers within the Constitution?

Abuse of power. Rulers controlled every aspect of one’s life including the taking of life. Today, this concept is foreign. We have forgotten why we fought for independence. Divide government prevents abuse of power by one person / group of people. We developed a constitution to control government & established rules for generations to follow. Representation change is not a change to the rules of governing unless changes are approved by the electorate. These principles are at risk.

17. The founders established pure democracy in the Constitution because they believed that it is the best form of government to ensure the safety and equitable treatment of all citizens.

Strongly Disagree

18. Based on the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, please arrange the following entities, starting with the highest source of authority, and continue the list in descending order of authority, skipping any that do not apply: Academia, Congress, Constitution, God, Industry, Media, Professional Sports, Supreme Court, Voters.

Natural law (God), Constitution, Voters, (Media, Supreme Court and Congress are =,the balance have no authority over any one or thing.

19. Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a Roman Catholic. I believe in God, Jesus Christ and Mary. I believe in right, wrong and morality. I challenge myself every day, as do we all with life’s struggles, to live to that standard. Like most, I fail at times to achieve my goal. However, I work to forgive myself when I fail as I forgive others for the same. Each individual struggles with morality. Morality is not to, nor should, be legislated except where an action of one takes away liberty of another. Each person must live according to their belief & be responsible for their actions. Government must not impose its version of morality.
