16. What in the nature of mankind caused America’s Founders to carefully define, separate, and limit powers within the Constitution?

The predisposition towards tyranny by ideologues or servants of greed is inherent to humankind. Our Founders struggled with a world every bit as complicated to them as it is to us. I believe they would have rejected the Citizens United climate for the same reasons they dumped the Tea in the Boston Harbor - the East India Company was being given preferential treatment by British Parliament. This is the greatest tragedy, not the usual cast of wedge issues, in American governance today.

17. The founders established pure democracy in the Constitution because they believed that it is the best form of government to ensure the safety and equitable treatment of all citizens.

18. Based on the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution, please arrange the following entities, starting with the highest source of authority, and continue the list in descending order of authority, skipping any that do not apply: Academia, Congress, Constitution, God, Industry, Media, Professional Sports, Supreme Court, Voters.

Voters with G-d (or other faith tradition) dictating their Conscience, the Congress they Elect, the Supreme Court to weigh the merits of law as necessary

19. Briefly describe your spiritual beliefs and values.

I am a a traditionally observant Jew. I believe in a Creator, that we were Created. I believe that the Torah is of Divine origin, given at Sinai. I believe that human beings were endowed with a sacred trust to be a part of the ongoing act of Creation (G-d rested, not stopped), that we must commit to tikkun olam, or the repairing of our world. In the words of Rabbi Tarfon in our text, Pirkei Avot, "it is not upon you to finish the task, but neither may you desist from it."
